Sunflash the Mace for me! He wasn't only warlike, he was sensible, calm and made plenty of changes for the better at Salamandastron. A very worthy leader and one of my favourite characters. Second would be Gorath the Flame.

Sunflash the Mace is my favorite too.

Brang was badgerlord during the Sable Quean.

He succeeded Gorath the Flame. He came to the Abbey and broke their bell rope, than sent Buckler Kordyne and Diggs to the abbey with new ropes. He also made the Blademaster's Metal. (Redwall Wiki is a wonderful thing!)
