I'm going on my own path and saying Brome was heroic.  Why Brome?  First thing is his age....he's younger than any of the characters on the list by far.  Two, where he has grown up, there is no fighting or war, and he's suddenly thrust into a lifestyle of war.  With these pieces working against him, to have the courage to tempt fate and rescue slaves inside a fortress and succeeding is quite heroic in my book.  You would've expected Felldoh to pull that off, but not young Brome. ;)

Good point about Brome.  I need to get a copy of MTW so I can re-read it. :)  Anyone else a bit surprised that the poll indicates that Redwall fans think that Luke is the most heroic???

Why is there no Colonel Clary.{in a demanding voice.}

Taggerung The Otter

both martin and luke were heroic
For GOD so loved the world he gave his only begotton SON so that whoever belived in him would not parish but live eternal life.

Oh yeah...buitiful verse... :D

I chose Brome as well. I think it takes real courage to be a field medic and for such a young, inexperienced mouse to free the slaves was truly brave.

Got to go with Felldoh his death was easily the best in the series

I got to say Luke for a good reason. Luke ran him and the ship into rocks to rid the world of Vilu Daskar's slavery. He ended up saving hundreds of people. I know some people like Tammo, but in the actual book he took part in a war and got probably the most recognition for it(been a long time since reading The Long Patrol). As I remember Vilu Daskar would drive his slaves into the ground, then throw them to the fishes. Luke stopped this from happening ever again.

Well, he might be called "mad," or "looney." He hadn't been in his right mind since his daughter died.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

 Geminya, I think your talking about Major Cutthroat Frunk from High Rhulain. I'm talking about Clary from Mariel

It maddens me to read about Luke driving the ship onto the rocks. He could have killed Vilu Daskar without killing himself. ;)

Yes but then the crew would tear him apart.

I voted for Martin. Sure he had anger on his side, from being imprisoned and all, but he had to have noticed that a lot of things he cares about die around him (that and he started fighting at a young age). He also had the love of his life with him, even when he told her to stay behind. That's a lot of stress, to have to watch over Rose and keep her safe while she's constantly near danger. So I see it as heroic that he continued to press on despite the danger he was putting himself and his friends in, at a time when he was inexperienced and sacrificing his well-being to the depressing life of a warrior. He was more mature and stable in "Mossflower", but as a result it seemed more likely that he'd win. It takes more courage to continue in the face of unlikely odds.
