So, you lot want to start off with a storm?
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

Agreed. A storm should e coming and the whole crew should argue over what to do. I think they should eventually ride out the storm then fix up the hip, we could say, maybe the tiller broke, then we start drifting to shore and we find the caves.

classic! sets up a lot of 'I told you so' conflicts, and while drifting, can be spotted by the woodland folks.

sure, that can be when the worst of the storm hits and the ship is tossed around, damaged, etc etc, perhaps some of the crew are lost overboard, (the unnamed extras that were doing the work or hired on as part of the raiding party).

in the morning they discover the extent of the damage and see that they've either run aground or are drifting, up to you all, but it would be great to have the crew to be stranded on the beach between the sea and the woodland crew, cold, miserable, desperate and with a need for vengeance, food, shelter, etc. - the old 'only one way to go and no turning back' kind of set up.

then their camp can be discovered by the swords of freedom crew ..... I don't know, just throwing out some ideas, we also could just have them anchor off the coast with a skeleton crew left on board, which can set up some double crossing opportunities for some beast?   thoughts?  anyway, I'll just be over here, sharpening my dagger .....

This is looking good! Be prepared to role play your first week without interaction from the Swords group.

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

Yes....and they eventually find the Crew or the Crew finds them

This is what Icefire said:
Quote from: what Icefire said on the other thread-It sounds like the crew wants to start by battling the storm and then us. In the meantime, we do something else...perhaps have a party?
-Vannøyne is sitting on a cliff staring at sea thinking about his mousemaid. Liv Aegis comes across him (while on a walk) and tries to comfort him. Marcus comes across them (while also on a walk) and points out the ship. We discuss it (?) and run to rouse the Swords to action.
-Xbalantie Shoreside is somewhere else and also spots the ship. She informs Timballisto. While she is reporting, Vannøyne, Liv, and Marcus arrive and confirm her words. Timballisto gives some orders (?) and we gather the troops (Spera, Sora Shirosaki, Nevfae, and Grollo Carento) so to speak.

here's another side angle that's been rolling around in my head - but this is just an idea and the folks I mention can use it or not, ok either way with me - since the character of Sula wants to have power and be in control, she could be like a leader of a raiding party, who has ideas of being the boss someday (like so many in many other RW stories), and also like in many other stories, there are always two bumbling foot soldier types of beasts where one is a little meaner than the other and mistreating the other constantly, like in Salamandastron and the Bellmaker which could work for Farril and Carr, who would work for Sula - could be good for some comic relief.  so, again, these are just suggestions.  you may have your own ideas and want to do something completely different, but I thought I would throw it out to get some discussions going.

I like the idea of the reluctance, so maybe the hesitant characters could try to hightail it when on a raiding party, but get held back for some reason(or not.) There should definitely be a storm, because our characters could not run a ship of that size by themselves, so maybe they were the only ones to survive the storm.

BTW, my character would be one of the reluctant characters, but probably not your thickheaded Blaggut types. In any other situation, maybe. (It might be kind of fun! ;D ) But unfortunately, my character was given a 'proper education', although some of it was how to host a hoity-toity dinner party. I'm not saying that anyone said this, just putting it out there.
