What is a Barghest?

What was the name of the owner of Pegasus?

I believe a Barghest is like a dog.  Not sure where it's from, but it's mentioned in a game I play.

And the owner of Pegasus would be...  Hercules?

Funny to think that Pegasus used to be a Medusa.  :D

I think there was someone before hercules, I remember something about a golden bridle or something of the like.

Since his name starts with an X I'm going to guess...Mayan, Incan, or Aztec?

Yes a Barghest is a dog but no, Hercules did not own the Pegasus

Xbalanque and his twin were Mayan pok-a-tok players, one of their stories has something to do with howler monkeys but I have no idea what

BTW you won't get the black shuck question unless you're british or very well acquainted with our folklore

What is the difference between a phoenix and a firebird?

I think it differs from where the mythology is coming from, but phoenix are usually reference with rebirth where I think firebirds are usually referenced with fire.
((this is from the top of my head so it may be wrong))

As I understand it, a pheonix is a flaming bird that is born every 100 years then dies and is reborn. The fire bird is just a flaming bird so yeah

Does anyone know anything about Native American mythology?
A little but not much, unfortunately. Also, it often varies from tribe to tribe. I know a myth about how the Pleiades got put in the sky ad how Devil's Tower (I think) was formed. Had to do with a giant bear.

I really like Greek mythology, so here's a few questions.
What is Hercules' Greek name? (If you say that Hercules is his Greek name, I will never speak to you again.)
What were his ten labors?
Who did he perform them for and why?
Who got thrown off of Olympus by Aphrodite and what are they the god/goddess of?
Who slew Medusa and why?
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!

1. Heracles
2.
3.
4. It wasn't Aphrodite that threw him but it was Hephaestus god of smithing
5. Perseus slew Medusa because he was sent by king polydectes because polydectes wanted to seduce his mum

Oops. Sorry about that, I thought it was Aphrodite. I know se was involved somehow... It's easy to het confused- there are tons of different versions of just about EVERY Greek myth out there. (And there's a lot of Greek myths. A lot.)

His labors:

Slay the Nemian lion, Slay the Caldonian Boar, Retrieve Diana's stag (these aren't in order) Retrieve Cerberus (last one), Bring back a giant's herd of oxen, Retrieve golden apples from the garden of whatever it was (needed Atlas's help) There were a couple more, but my mind isn't in mythology right.

He had to do them for some cowardly king, and he had to do them because Hera made Hercules go mad in which time he killed his family who he loved dearly.
