Norham Waterpaw

Norham was showing Baypaw how to make Flare cakes. You would take chopped beets and onions, put them in some thin dough, and set them over a fire. You would then put a special oil they kept on their cart in the fire, which made the fire leap up and cook the cake near instantly, making it flaky on the outside, and chewy and savory on the inside.

OOC: Ooh, yum! Sounds really good- I'll have to try that sometime.

BIC: Baypaw was amazed at Norham's culinary skill. "This is absoballylutely delish, old chap. Top hole tuck, wot!" she pronounced, picking the last crumbs out of her whiskers. "I'll have to tell the jolly old Friar about it when we get back to Redwall."

Ooc: Well, in real life, I like to cook. That helps.

Karnik had finally entered the vermin camp, and already agreed with Riggaeo to find and kill Norham. Karnik was an amazing tracker, and he was already on the scent of Norham and Baypaw.

Well, I'm ready whenever you are, Linda, Is it?" He said, making sure he had matched the name right.
I LOVE 80's music.

Linda nodded, and went over to help some of the recently injured Redwallers.

Vash waited by her side, ready to do what she asked.

Baypaw and Norham were on the move again. Baypaw had gone north for a while, but now she turned as went west. "We should be far enough away from those vermin chaps that they won't see us when we pass by, wot. Now our quest truly begins- onward to Salamandastron!"

Norham nodded. "Indeed marm, it's about time we were on our way to the western shores... What's that?"
Out of the nearby shrubbary, Karnik leaped at Norham. Norhamstopped him short by slamming him mid-air with a tackle. Both were grappling to get up furiously. One on top of the other, Norham biting and clawing, while Karnik bit, desperately trying to plunge his poisoned spike into Norham.

Bay paw was taken completely by surprise, but recovered quickly enough to thwack her staff down at the battling creatures. Her aim wasn't very good and it was hard to tell who was who in the melee, but she sincerely hoped she was hitting Karnik and not Norham.

Norham saw the staff coming down, he let Karnik get on top of him. Suddenly a round of blows hit Karnik on the back of his head, he blacked out. Norham said." Thanks Marm!" And fell over from exhaustion.

Baypaw found herself trembling with shock and exertion. She just wanted to sit down- but she knew that she couldn't. She found some rope and tied Karnik securely to a tree, then inspected Norham. There was no damage that she could see other than some mild scrapes and bruises. "I suppose you are just bloomin' tuckered out, wot. And who wouldn't be, after fightin' a horrible vermin like that fellow?" Baypaw decided it was best to let Norham rest after the ordeal, but didn't want to be too close to Karnik... She finally dragged Norham under some nearby bushes and set down to wait.

Norham woke in the night, another dream about Riggaeo. He snapped into reality, punching the creature over him in the snout. "Aagh! Me blinkin nose!" It was Karnik, who had just recently used his hand blade to cut himself free. Norham hammered down with both paws on his back, knocking him out cold.

Baypaw, unused to standing guard, had fallen asleep, and woke at the ruckus from the bushes. The first thing she saw was the cut ropes where Karnik had been tied up. Oh no! Was Norham okay? She hurried over to where she had hidden him, to find Karnik unconscious (again) and Norham standing over him. "Oh, dear! I'm awfully bloomin' sorry, old chap. I thought you should have some rest, so I tied this brute up and- Norham, I must have jolly well fallen asleep! Are you all right?" Baypaw was visibly upset at the thought of what might have happened. "I won't ever flamin' well fall asleep on duty again, sah. You have my word of honor, wot!"

"Don't worry yourself over me marm, Just remember, his hand is sharp, he can cut rope." Norham inspected the fox a little more closely. He remembered this fox, and remembering cutting off his hand. This was long ago, but apparently the fox had never forgotten. He stared at the fox a while.

Baypaw could see that he was reliving old memories. "Er, I say, shouldn't we get going before this chap wakes up?" she asked hesitantly.
