Okay, so I know that none of the hobbits in The Lord of the Rings used a bow and arrow in the movies, but I'm creating this question to see what some of us might think of it. I think it would be cool, and epic during the battle scenes. Yes, Legolas is cool when he uses his bow and arrow but I also think the hobbits would have been great at it too. I can just picture all four hobbits in the middle of everything bringing down orcs with their bows and arrows

Thoughts?

All I can see is Merry and Pippin trying to fire these huge longbows, and Legolas standing there, shaking his head. :) If I was a better artist, I would draw it.
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!

love lord of the rings triligy i have them on vhs and return of the king of
dvd.

I think they would have some lousy angles to shoot at, thus accuracy probably wouldn't be good, given how short the hobbits are compared to other characters.  I'm not saying they probably couldn't, but it probably would be better for someone taller to use the arrows.

Hobbits aren't made for bows. more for daggers.

WildDoogyPlumm

I have a hard time picturing them being good at archery, but I suppose it's possible. Some hobbits might be okay at it. So I don't really know!

I believe it said in the first book most hobbits are good archers

Now that I remember

Don't look if you haven't read all the books
At the end of the last book, the hobbits were firing arrows at the ruffians.

I don't think Hobbits would be good at archery. They just don't seem to be that type of creature.

Life is too short to rush through it.

Thank you for that hilarious mental image.  :D
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

Well, in the Hobbit, it said they were good at throwing stones and such. It seems like that accuracy could transfer over to archery... But still, Legolas is the only one epic enough for archery IMO.

Well, I can picture Sam being good at it. The others I'm not so sure.

Haha, What I picture is Gandalf or Aragorn shutting Merry and Pippin in a shed or something and telling them not to come out till the battle is over. They notice some bows and arrows and decide to 'help' the others out. But Gandalf discovers them before they do any damage.  ;D
