Dr. Pepper is indeed better than A&W, However, since Dr. Pepper is a soda that only one company makes, the only variety there is, is the different flavors. There is no such thing as "Real Dr. Pepper", whereas real rootbeer does exist, just is hard to find. My definition of "Real" is this:
1. Not made by the Coke company or the Pepsi company, or any other mass producers
2: Doesn't say "Natural and/or Artificial flavors" anywhere on the bottle.
3: Not always the case, but most of the time real soda is in a glass bottle, not a plastic one
4: Is made with roots, herbs, and possibly vegetables, rather than things that I can't pronounce and would rather not eat,
5: Has less than 10 non-herb ingredients on the ingredients list.

There is a brand called Virgils that is sold at Publix, and I think Whole Foods. Also, Blue Sky rootbeer fits these criteria as well, though it's less to my taste. It can be found at most natural food stores. (The ones near me, at least.)

Root Beer is great! A and W is my fave brand of Root Beer.

A&W is my favorite, Shasta stinks compared to it.

there are only 2 pops better than root beer, orange fanta and Guarana (a brazilian pop, its delicious!)

I've never had Shasta. Is it a brand of rootbeer, or another soda? I don't like A&W very much, it's my least favorite root beer. I'll still drink it, due to it being rootbeer, but I don't like it nearly as much as, say Virgils or Blue Sky. This might be different where you are, but my only access to A&W is a plastic bottle with a massive ingredients list filled with things that are either vague or incredibly obscure. Which means, by my criteria, makes it not "Real". Those of you who like A&W, you can continue liking it if you want, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But if you're fairly adventurous, and you like rootbeer, I might suggest trying some of the "Natural" rootbeers, many of them don't quite fit my "Real" criteria, but they're close, and pretty tasty. If you ever find  Virgil's, try it. It's awesome.

Those rootbeers sound really odd... Rootbeer cream soda? Rootbeer orange cream? Blackberry? Birch beer? I've heard of the last, but I'm going to have to try those! Though, the vanilla one seems more usual, many rootbeers have vanilla in them.
