I'm trying to get one of my friends to read Redwall and she says she might like it but she is kind of picky in her choices of books so I need some more opinions on a good, easy, interesting book to start her off.

That's such a hard question!!!  I think Loamhedge would be a good start...hope she likes the series!

Marlfox, Redwall, or Mossflower. I voted Marlfox, because it's my favorite book. It's not hard to understand, and has a good plot, different from the others.

I'd suggest that yoyr friend starts with Lord Brocktree, since, chronologicly, it's the first Redwall book. Then Martin the Warrior, then Mossflower, ect.

Life is too short to rush through it.

Tam and Martin

Lord Brocktree. It was the beggining and, I think, one of the easiest to understand.

If you wanna chat, PM me :) I'd love to talk with any of you!

I think the original Redwall is always the best to read first. If it doesn't look interesting to her, perhaps Legend of Luke or one of the later books, like Rogue Crew, would be a good suggestion?
Redwall is always open, its tables laden, to you and any of good heart.

Personally, I would suggest Mossflower as, let's face it, everything comes down to the book and everything else is just a branch from it.  Books post-Mossflower only happen because Martin and co. liberated Mossflower Country from Tsarmina and books pre-Mossflower are just back stories to explain the events that led to Mossflower.

I may be biased though, because Mossflower is my favourite story of Brian Jacques tales.  I, like Mask's friend, am a very picky reader and was introduced to the story through that book.  Needless to say, here I am years later, still loving the series and I think it is because I read that Mossflower first.  I do not think I would have continued with the series if I had of read others, like Redwall (sorry guys, it's my least favourite- weird I know) or Mattimeo, first.

That's just my two cents anyway, take from it what you will.  Hope your friend enjoys that series!

Well, I was gonna tell her to start with Redwall, cause she has that book, but it just doesnt seem like it would interest someone who would much rather play stupid computer games.

Me too!
Martin the Warrior is way more epic than Mickey Mouse. Anyone who says otherwise is insane, or just wrong.

Which stupid computer games? I hope you're not calling Minecraft stupid...

No, there is this weird website that has something to do with math where she plays pointless games, her favorites are called "Fireboy and Watergirl" and "Robot wants Fishy" they are very strange.

It's always best to start at the beginning, so that means the book with the earliest events in Mossflower, and then read them in chronological order of the events. Most of the books in the Redwall series are of course pretty much stand-alone stories.

I detest the silly new fad for movies and TV shows to keep jumping around the timeframe with flashbacks - it just makes it impossible to follow what's happening.  :(

So far, Lord Brocktree has the most votes. And that is reasonable, too. Anybody should start reading the series in chronological order, making Lord Brocktree the first, as I have said before.

Life is too short to rush through it.
