That's one of the great things about this show. One, Sherlock hates to wear the hat he is known for in the stories, and two, Watson tells Sherlock all this stuff from Elemetary school, where as in the stories Sherlock says Elemetary my dear Watson. Very clever Moffat!
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

Yeah. I like how more....emtional....(not sure if thats the right word) they made him in serise three.

Sherlock never said 'Elementary, Dear Watson' in the books, as far as I'm aware? And of course the deer-stalker hat, cloak and such were not in the original novels, either. :)

I preferred the tone of the first two series. The third was still good. I am most intrigued how the next series will pan out. (And when!)

It's a good series, not as good as either the Jeremy Brett or Robert Downey Junior films of course, but good nonetheless

"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

I never saw the Jeremy Britt ones, but I think these are better then the Downey Jrs. I suppose Jude Law did a good Watson, but these are a little less dark. Maybe it's because I prefer shows that aren't so morbid.

The Mask

The movies are pretty good. But I really think Benedict Cumberbach is better.

I agree, plus, the TV show had a lot more content. Only two movies, and 9 hour-and-a-half long episodes.

I've read maybe 20 or so of the original Sherlock stories (by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle), and he has never said it once, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Sherlock never said that in the original stories, and that it was just added later in some adaption to the stage or something like that.

Jeremy Brett is the only true Sherlock Holmes. Wow, that sounds like I'm in a cult! ;D
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

I honestly feel Robert Downey Jr. makes the best Sherlock: not exactly for the way he acted him out in the movies, but for the reason that he looks just like I imagined Sherlock while reading the books.

Well, I think that I actually imagined Holmes to look just like Jeremy Brett, and I had not watched the series that he was in by that time.
