I love that TV show! I've only seen the first season, but I want to see the second one soon!

Just be warned, A Scandal in Belgravia (the first episode of the second season) has a scene that's slightly... awkward...

Awkwardness in A Scandal in Belgravia
There's a scene where a character is nude.  They don't show anything, but it's still rather awkward.  I pretty much squinted when I came to that part.  ;)

It's a very interesting episode, but be warned.
Some of my favorite Sherlock quotes are from that one, but yes, there is quite a bit of awkwardness due to one of the characters' profession. I ended up just skipping some bits, partly because my little brother was watching too.

Yeah, I just closed my eyes at those parts because you really did need to hear some of the dialogue to understand the rest of the episode.  You just didn't need to see it all.  ;)  If only there were a blackout button on your TV!  Or maybe duct tape.  Duct tape could work.  ;)

Duct tape is good for everything. ;D

Definetly an awkward episode!!!  Not going to watch it more than once!

I watched it twice, mainly because I really liked the quotes from it (especially the one with Sherlock and John fighting!).

A Scandal in Belgravia
Sherlock:  Punch me in the face.
John:  Punch you?
Sherlock: Yes, punch me, in the face.  Didn't you hear me?
John:  I always hear "punch me in the face" when you're speaking, but it's usually subtext.
Sherlock:  Oh, for [Pete's] sake!  [punches John in the face.  John punches him back, before jumping onto his back and grabbing him in a chokehold]  Okay, I think that's enough now.
John:  You want to remember, Sherlock, I was a soldier.  I killed people!
Sherlock:  You were a doctor!
John:  I had bad days!

Favorite quote in that entire episode.  ;D

This show... *Sighs*

I love Sherlock, both the books and this show. I love how they completely modernised it all, but kept the characters and plot true to the spirit of the books. Favourite episode would be season 2 episode 2 (Hounds of Baskerville) or season 1 episode 3 (The Great Game). Cannot decide my favourite story from the books. Not a fan of Elementary because Watson should NOT be female (and for a couple of other reasons). Have not seen any of the films with Robert Downey Junior.

This popped up in my newsfeed on Facebook, a shot from the set of season 3 episode 3 (I think), it made me laugh so hard.
funniness, no actual spoilers

Received mostly negative reviews.

I just cannot get into this show.  Perhaps because I am biased to the old actors of Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett in their portrayals of Holmes and I am not a fan of using a "current" setting.  Plus, I have a bone to pick with the series creator (Mark Gatiss) mocking the old films as being to close to the source material.  Gatiss is another reason I've been hesitant to jump into Dr. Who.

Any who, if you've seen my other topics on the pulps....you'll notice Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of my favorite authors and Sherlock Holmes is very near and dear to me.  Basically, I am a bit of  prude when it comes to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert E. Howard, and Howard Phillips Lovecraft.  I generally like their works to be left untouched or at least kept close to the canon.

I've got a Sherlock Holmes hardback mini-book. It contains two of the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories and is only 72mm wide x 83mm high x 18mm thick (or for those still stuck using ye olde measurements that's about 2 3/4" wide x 3 1/4" high x 5/8" thick).

That sounds like quite the little item...I just have a complete collection in paper back.  I've been trying to get a decent leather bound set to match my Lovecraft and Burroughs sets, but have yet to run into any over here.

Unfortunately I think they only ever printed that one book with the two stories. There are other mini-books in the series, but they aren't Sherlock Holmes stores.

My family has a Sherlock Holmes short story collection called The Baker Street Dozen- it contains Doyle's 13 favorite stories.

@Daniel: Those are good movies- Robert Downey makes an interesting Holmes, and Jude Law is a great Watson. ;D I highly recommend both of them, especially the second one.

I LOVE sherlock. (but not as much as Avatar)
I hate it when a package says 'easy open' and you need a scissors, a knife, a crowbar, a gun, and a light-saber to open it.

I think Anna meant the show, Avatar:  The Last Airbender.  ;)  It's actually a pretty good show, and as for the movie (Avatar, not The Last Airbender (in my opinion, The Last Airbender wasn't a very good movie)), it was pretty good.  An interesting storyline, to say the least.  True, it was a bit gory at parts (not too bad, it just had a few battle scenes), and the people weren't wearing much (they didn't show anything inappropriate, which I was glad of), but it was still a good movie.

Anyway, back to Sherlock!  I liked this Mycroft GIF I found on Shocking Blankets:
