This would kind of be like DND, without the game mechanics. Anyone interested?

I am very interested! :)

*A thick and burly dwarf opens the doors of the tavern and saunters in*  "By Moradin's beard!  It's been a long journey and I be famished and my throat parched! *He glances at the other faces around the tavern* "Well met fellow travelers, the name is Grimnir, of clan Thordain"  *He takes a seat at an empty table and waves a barmaid down, gesturing for an ale*  "I s'pose you'll be wantin' to know a bit about meself, aye"?

Just curious, what's DND?  I'm guessing it's Dungeons and Dragons, but what exactly IS Dungeons and Dragons?

A role playing game using paper, pencil, dice, often a board and figurines, and of course nerds. ;D

Anyway Thomas, I would love to join, I will have a sheet up soon.
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!

There are computer games that are based on the same rules too if you have no friends.   :)
Originally it was medieval-style with magic, swords, dragons, trolls, etc., but it was also spun-off, less successfully, into sci-fi based games as well - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (an old game, but just re-released for iPad) is based on the same rules.

Although it probably was not the first, Dungeons & Dragons was certainly the most successful and pretty much all Roleplaying Games (RPGs) owe a debt to it. Even many of the first/third-person games, like Doom, have had a big influence from Dungeons & Dragons too.

Dungeons and Dragons was based off of Gygax war game hybrid Chainmail.  Chainmail itself was based off of H.G. Wells ' "Little Wars", which was a toy soldiers miniatures game based off of real military miniature use.  Gygax and Arneson then developed D&D from all of those.  It was the "first" traditional roleplaying game in the sense we know.

But as Gygax says, roleplaying has been around forever....cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, etc. :)

And Thomas!  I am still very interested! :)
