Why Does Martin Not Love Again?

I think Martin's love for Rose went on even after her death. He might have had a liking for another but it was to painful for him to love again

He certainly dealt well with all his other pain: He never feels so much as a twinge of self-doubt about all the killing that he does.

Mostly because he kills only in defense of others. Badrang is the only exception (I think) to that.
Martin the Warrior is way more epic than Mickey Mouse. Anyone who says otherwise is insane, or just wrong.

Does there have to be a reason why he never loved again? I mean, there's plenty of people IRL who never have a love interest. Why couldn't the same be true for Martin?

@danflorreguba That last assault has plenty of bloodshed, so we can safely assume that Martin kills plenty of creatures 'off-screen'.  Even war-loving Achilles weeps after butchering many Trojans.

Maybe Martin never found the right mousemaid after Rose or he always judged them against Rose and found that they weren't as good as she was  :D I don't really know about this sort of stuff but I do know that love is a strange and unpredictable thing  ;D
