Let us discuss Maths, and Algebra, and Calculus, etc.

Let us.

Let us.

Let us.

Lets not and say we did. ;)  I teach it....I can do the operations in most cases, that doesn't mean I have to enjoy every minute of it.  And I cannot do calculus.  Never learned it, and thank god I don't have to teach it.

I had to study calculus and linear algebra as part of my degree at university. It was the least fun I've ever had. One of my calculus lecturers used to get so excited he'd cover both whiteboards with proofs and then say, "You don't need to know this, I just think it's interesting! Isn't it interesting?"

That maaaaay be a bit too much, agreed. ::)

I do like fractals,  though.

Mathematics, unfortunately, has never been my strong suit.  I had some pretty awful educators at a young age and I developed a hatred early on.  Sadly, that stuck, and I spited myself by turning off to math.

Though, I've rekindled an interest in my later years...

I'm absolutely atrocious at Maths. My final 'F' result is not something I like to put on my resume/CV. XD

However my boyfriend LOVES Maths. And I mean (as he would put it) 'proper' maths - not just adding up and that. He did Maths at university. I'm proud he's good at it, but by goodness, it's SO dull. :p

I'm a maths "genius". I've done maths, algebra, calculus, statstics, etc. :)

One year we had an idiot for a school maths teacher. He was doing a problem on the blackboard in the first couple of weeks of the year and for part of it he wrote was "X + X = 3X" ... he then spent the rest of the hour long class trying to work out where he went wrong. Needless to say I totally ignored him for the rest of the year, but still passed the tests and exams with 95%+ marks.

We used to have "Levels" tests for mathematics in the first two of years at high school where you started at either level 5 or 6 and went up the scale to Level 1 from there as you passed each one. I was the only person in my year (and only about five in the school's history) to pass Level 1.  :)

The only reason I don't absolutely hate math is because of my Dad. He is great at almost any kind of math and whenever I have a problem figuring something out he will sit down with me and help me understand what I'm doing wrong.

That's exactly the same with me!

Except I do Algebra.

Yeah I do Algebra too. I just finished Algebra 1 this year. In fact I did it twice in one year. When I finished it for the first time around Christmas my parents didn't want to rush me on quickly to Geometry so I did Algebra 1 again. My Dad really helped me both times through so now I know Algebra 1 really well. Aren't Dads great?  ;D

As a programmer, I have to manipulate math a lot.  (I'm not in Britain)

I think fractals are just amazing.  Google "the Order of Chaos Scratch" and click the first result.  Then, after watching it for a minute or two, google "the Chaos Game" and how it works.

I was pretty good at it in high school.  I enjoyed Algebra and Pre-Calc.  I happened to be the only one in the school who took AP Calculus my senior year - it was over a TV network, 5 students in three schools total.  I wish I hadn't.  It was difficult, what with the system being connected for only 45 mins, my school's math teachers not knowing enough to help, and we didn't review for the AP test at all.  All in all, it ended up only bringing down my GPA, and I didn't even end up needing it in college - you take tests to determine which classes you can test out of, and I recieved the highest score possible (the test didn't contain any Calculus), so I didn't have to take any except one about computer logic required for my major.  At least I can say I tried it.

I can't remember hardly even Algebra now, though.  It's been a long time. xD

I wish this video had been around back when I was taking Calc:

I'm a pirate. I know most of the math I need, even if I'm not very fast. I'm really good at a lot of things; math isn't one of them. I just don't like it very much.
