I disagree with your post, Lass. Mostly because you're spelling colour the American way. The thing about black being a colour or a shade is arguable. But if it's a shade, what is it a shade of? And can't that make it also a colour? #000000 is black in hexadecimal, so you could say that black is the absence of colour. Maybe.
