Favorite Weapon in the Series

Throughout the books, there have been a myriad of characters with a huge variety in weaponry. What has been your favorite weapon to see a certain character have or obtain?

My personal favorite was Mariel's rope - Gullwhacker. I thought it was a unique item to be used the way it was! I liked the fact that Brian Jacques went with something that most people probably wouldn't have really given a second thought. It had a deeper meaning as well since it was the very thing that was suppose to kill her (binding her in the ocean). And, of course, it now has a very special place in Redwall Abbey as the tolling rope for the Joseph Bell.

I liked Stiffeners fists in Lord Brocktree. They brought the pain!

Well said davers! I personally thought a simple staff was the best weapon. Since it had an unlimited amount of uses. It was also used by two of the wisest characters in the series (in my opinion): Russano the Wise and Joseph the Bellmaker.

The sword of Martin the Warrior, for being an inspirational symbol to many of its users throughout the series, and for being much more powerful than its size suggests. It cuts through other swords, and it never breaks or rusts (after Boar fashions a new blade for it). And there's something about the design with the black grip and the red pommel stone that's always appealed to me.

I think my second favorite is the dagger of Sawney Rath, and that's probably because it's a lot like Martin's sword. The blade is described as incredibly sharp and well-polished, and it, too, has a pommel stone on the hilt, which I believe was a sapphire. I also think there's a great story to it, since Deyna ends up taking it with him after he leaves the Juska tribe. On his journey home, he uses the dagger both to save lives and to entertain friends. So it has its own sort of symbolism: as much as Deyna wants to get back to the life he was going to have before he was taken, he's still willing to work with the hand he's been dealt. I think this ends up relating even more broadly to his life: Deyna was raised by the vermin to be a fighter, and when he finally gets back to Redwall, he doesn't try to get away from that; he takes up the position of Abbey Warrior. I'm actually really glad that Brian Jacques wrote Rukky Garge refusing to take the blade as payment for healing Deyna. I'd like to think that is was still there for Deyna in case he ever needed it throughout the rest of his life, and that it stayed in the Abbey after he was gone.

I really liked Russa's hard wood stick and songbreez'es Leafwood but my all time favorite was Tammo's dirk. I'm not sure why maybe because it is half way. Nether a sword or a dagger but half way between the two.

I like Martin's sword and Denya's dagger (which was actually Swany Rath's (spelling?) but oh well)

I always liked the long-range weapons like the bows and the slings. But I also agree with Tammo. The simple staff is also a very good weapon.
