Unless Gonflett or his son had siblings, Dandin is Bryony's son, we know this because abbess Meriam describes Gonff as being Bryony's great grandfather, Dandin describes him as "the father of my father's father"

Bryony, unknown, Gonflett, Gonff
Dandin, unknown, unknown, Gonflett, Gonff

Dandin is one generation younger than Bryony, he is her son, unless Gonflett or his children had siblings

I never thought of that. It could be!

So brony had more children and wasn't completely heartbroken. Yay!

The only problem with that is that Bryony was the abbess.

It is stated that there is no religion in Redwall in an ask Brian, this being the case I don't see how an abbess having children is implausible

That is true but all the other Abbots and Abbesses never had any children.

Perrit, the squirrelmaid from Doomwyte was married and had a daughter, but she became Abbess.

Actually the statement "the father of my father's father" goes back only three generations not four.

Well Bryony could have been his Grandmother then  :)  :-*  :) and I never thought of this before but it makes sense  :)

Look what Redwall wiki said,

QuoteBryony and Dandin have both been described as being the great-grandchildren of Gonff, however as Outcast of Redwall takes place chronologically before Mariel of Redwall, it is more likely that Bryony is the real great-grandchild, and Dandin is just a descendant. See the Family Tree page for more information.

One word. Belltower. The belltower was complete in Outcast, right? But in Dandin's time, the Belltower was only being built and they had to use a log alarm. Thus, Dandin had to be born before Bryony.

I don't think there was a bell in Outcast of Redwall and if there was it wasn't the Joseph Bell.
