Here Is the next Chapter!

CHAPTER FOUR

The young mouse Russell sat with his back to the abbeys outer wall looking at the reflection of the moon on the surface of the abbey pond and playing a flute. The soft music made its way across the Abbey grounds and threw the trees of Mossflower woods to meet the ear of one of Calendula's scouts. The stoat kicked his partner, a fat rat named Halfear,

“Ya ‘ear that?” He said in a lowered voice.

“‘Ear what?” Halfear said his voice raised in what he thought was a whisper scratching his single ear. The stoat, whose name was Redeyes, promptly gave him a clout between the ears.
“Tone it down Idjit. That noise. It is coming from over there,” He said heading in that direction with out waiting for Halfear who was sitting on the ground rubbing his head.

“Now what you do that fer?”

“Shhhhh!”

***

Russell finished his song and stood up as the Abbess came over with Tayo clapping softly for him. He gave a little bow.

“That was lovely,” the Abbess said

“Top hole wot!”

“Oh it was nothing, I’ll escort you back to the abbey if you may,” Russell said. Linking arms with the Abbess.

***

Relelo sat in one of the shrew log boats as it sailed down the moon lit river. The Log-a-log, Gulva, came over and sat next to him

“You knew my father?” He said softly.

“Aye, I do, but why do you say knew as if it were in the past?”  She asked but she feared she already knew the answer.

“He is dead...All of them are.” Relelo said almost bluntly. He had to to keep from breaking down. he took the medallion in his paw and looked at it turning it over letting the moonlight play on the well polished metal. “Vermin came in from the east there is no one left but me.

***

Tulip watched the vermin camp from her perch in the tree. She had been following them ever since they had attacked her home and killed her family. She believed that they had her twin brother. When she had gone back after their home had been destroyed and the vermin had left she had found the dead bodies of her slain family but her brother had not been among them.

She ran a paw threw her cream colored fur with worry. He had to be somewhere for all she knew he could be locked in that box or in the tent but she wasn't about to give up she would find Relelo for he was all the family she had left in the world.

age.

Her attention was drawn over to a cage where a young dibbun locked inside. She recognize him as Tip the daughter of her mothers friend. She had to do something.

How can Tulip be his sister and him be the son of her mothers friend?

Chapter 5

"Set a new course for Redwall" Gulva said to a shrew in the boat next to theirs.
"Why are we going there?" Relelo asked,
"To warn them of the vermin and to be there if there is war." Gulva replied,
"When will we arrive?" asked Releo ,
"Tomorrow morning, get some rest" Gulva answered. Relelo leaned back and fell asleep, but he could not erase the death of his twin sister Tulip from his dreams.
*****************************************************************
Tulip began to feel drowsy. "I will not fall asleep!" she told herself over and over, even as her eyes drooped shut. She slowly slipped of the branch; she woke up as she was falling, her bow slipped from her hand, and she grabbed a dry branch. She tried to scramble back up the tree, but the branch snapped and she fell the rest of the way and landed at a rat guard's feet senseless.
*****************************************************************
Tayo snuck into the kitchen assuming no one was awake, but he was proven wrong. He jumped when he glimpsed friar Chester putting out dough to rise over night. Tayo quickly grabbed a bag of candied chestnuts and ran. Chester sighted him and raced after the hare swinging his ladle and muttering threats.
*****************************************************************
A rat and a weasel marched up to Calendula with Tulip dragging in-between them, her hands were bound behind her back and she was just regaining consciousness.
"Well, well what have we here" said  Calendula,
"A squirrel I captured just outside the camp." answered the rat,
"Well squirrel what were you doing outside are camp? I do hate spies." the vixen asked,
"I got lost" Tulip answered
"Then why were you armed?" the fox snapped, tulip found that she still had her small dagger and managed to reach it with her bound hands. After she cut her bonds she threw the dagger in between her legs at the vixen, The knife hit the vixen in the leg and she yowled in pain. Tulip immediately kicked the rat holding her weapons, breaking several ribs. The squirrel grabbed her weapons and ran up the nearest tree, but the vermin gathered at the base of the tree. When she reached the upper branches of the tree she realized that she was trapped! She could see no branches close enough she could reach or jump to. All she had was a bow, twenty arrows, and a canteen of water.
*****************************************************************
Tayo ran smack dab into skipper who was taking a walk outside. The fryer angrily swung his ladle but Tayo ducked and the ladle hit Skipper. The hug otter grabbed the friar by one ear and lifted him into the air, as The hare gleefully ran off to eat the stolen chestnuts.
"Not me the hare!" Chester shouted at Skipper
"Tayo did not hit me with a ladle, but you did!" the otter boomed
"That hare stole from my kitchen!" said the squirrel,
"That still doesn't explain you hitting me with the ladle." Skipper replied,
"I was aiming for the hare!" The fryer exclaimed,
"Well what are we waiting for then, lets get that thieving rabbit!" Skipper and Chester ran after Tayo planning what they would do when they caught him.

                                                                            Chapter 6
Hidden from view a badger watched as the guards chased Tulip to the tree. Thinking that enough was enough the badger, Erica was her name, drew her claymore and tensed her muscles ready to charge forward.
**********
Redtail was standing at the base of the tree when he heard the roar. It was earth shattering and as loud as a tidal wave. The vermin all looked over to see Erica running towards them with her claymore above her head and blood in her eyes. Rats, weasels, and stoats fled in every direction to escape the mad charge.
Erica battered her way through the vermin to the tree and hollered up to Tulip, "Jump onto my back! You can cover me with your bow as we make a run for it."
Tulip didn't know this badger but it was her best chance at escaping. Leaping down she landed on the creatures back. Erica started to run in the direction of Redwall Abbey. Their only hope of safety was within its walls. Tulip's bow sting twanged again and again as she loosed the last of her arrows.
**********
Calendula had stayed close to the back of the horde when the badger had charged, she could see that Erica was under the effects of bloodwrath. She shuddered inwardly at the terror of that charge but quickly chided herself for losing confidence. All creatures have a weakness, just because the badger is affected by bloodwrath does not mean she's invincible.
**********
Tayo ran out onto the lawns. He had a good lead on Skipper and Chester. His eyes flitted about trying find a hiding place where he could eat the candied chestnuts in peace.
"Wot ho, the old waterin' hole would make a jolly good hiding place with all those long reed thingys."
Tayo bounded over to the pond and sat down with his back to the water. The reeds hid him from view and he began to greedily munch of the chestnuts. As he sat there a shadow under the water came towards him, giving off small ripples.
**********
Skipper and Chester came out of the main abbey building.
"Are you sure you saw him go this way Skipper?"
"As sure as I can be."
"He could have slipped off upstairs." muttered Chester.
"You don't think I can find that bottomless pit?! First you whack me with that ladle of yours then you question my tracking abilities?"
Chester and Skipper were about to get into it when a yelp came from the pond.
"Yeowch! Bounders taken a bit of me blinkin' tail! Here you slimy scales give it back!"
Both the squirrel and otter raced over just in time to see the abbey fish disappear under the water with Tayo's tail in its teeth. Tayo himself was cluthing his behind and shouting insults to the water.
"You impolite excuse for a fish!"
"What's the trouble?" Skipper asked with a smile that he tried to hide.
"That rotters bit me tail off! Take a look!"
True enough where Tayo's tail should have been there was now a small stump that was barely distinguishable from the rest of his backside.
"Well matey, we'd better get you patched up then."
Chester attempted to puff out his chest, "Serves you right for trying to steal from my kitchens."
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire." - Eowyn, Lord of the Rings
