A perfect number is a number where all its factors apart from itself sum to it. For example, the factors of 6 are 1, 2, 3 and 6, and 1+2+3=6. The factors of 28 are 1, 2, 4, 7, 14 and 28. 1+2+4+7+14=28. Coincidentally, both 6 and 28 are triangular numbers, although I don't think that trend continues (nor can I be bothered to verify it at this point in time).
