I can do that because I'm awesome.

"It really gets up my nose when publishers call my book another Lord of the Rings. It's my bloody book! I wrote it. And another thing, I didn't have to plunder Norse and European mythology to do it!" - Brian Jacques.

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

I think he means Martin I.

As a goodbeast: He was one of the most valiant and brave creatures in the series.

As a character: Sueish. I defy you to name a single major thing Martin failed at- Aside from not protecting Rose well enough.

Eh. He was okay. Like many of the characters in the series, he was too perfect. I don't mean in comparison to the others, I mean like the other goodbeasts. They're all too valiant and brave and they never lose.

I see you're point, but I think he was the kind of character that is perfect to others and not himself.

Gonff the Mousethief

I mean he IS the founder of Redwall and shows people ways and stuff so Brian had to make him a little more special than the rest.
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.
