We have a few varieties, many originally alien species. I think only two kinds are truly native.

There's a deer skull on the cover for Salamandastron, I reckon that's the only mention of 'em besides
Redwall.

@Jango: A long time ago, carts were pulled by hand so it's not strange that the Redwallers would pull theirs by hand. Also, greensap (I think) milk is mentioned a couple of times, I'm not sure if that's the right name but it's milk that doesn't require a cow. Quick tip, when making a list like that, use the plural forms as the transition from one to next feels a fair amount less awkward than it does when you state them in singularity.

I realize animal stories are always iffy about what to do with non-sentient animals--especially in the Tales of Redwall where they don't use anything from other animals as much as Hindus--but it only makes sense to use them for some things
