hahaha sorry, not a AFL fan, my dad's a major Crows supporter though.
Oh well, I guess it's not for everyone, we can still get along!  :)

But I also have to give props to Boorab singing "The Battle of the Boiling Water." Makes me cry every time I read it.
Oh, I love that one! Cregga.  :'(

Yes I just typed that all from memory... :D
WHOA. I tip my hat to you, sir/miz.
That moment was one of the Redwall moments that made me feel really sad.
Anyway, my favourite song might be one of Clecky's.(Pearls of Lutra)

Captain Tammo

It was a very little song by a mole in one of the books:
"H'o a bumbly bee be a wunnerful burd,
He'm sing a song that you'm never hurd,
H'o a fuzz buzz fuzz buzz fuzz buzz buzz,
That's all he'm ever does does does!"

I also like the songs in the beginning of each of the 3 books in Rakkety Tam
"Rakkety rakkety rakkety tam,
The drums are beatin brae.
Rackety rakkity rakkity tam,
Are ye marchin off tae war?

A warrior from the borders he came,
A buckler o'er his shoulder,
A claymore swingin' at his side,
There's no' a beast who's bolder!

O Rakkety Tam has sold his sword,
Ah scarce believe he's done it.
He swore an oath untae a fool,
Who took his pledge upon it!"
"Cowards die a thousand times, a warrior only dies once. The spirits of all you have slain are watching you, Vilu Daskar, and they will rest in peace now that your time has come. You must die as you have lived, a coward to the last!" -Luke the warrior

I like this too, I don't know the tune but the rhythm gets stuck in my head.

Yea same here. I like to make random tunes up when I read the songs in redwall. I think of the rakkety tam song as more of a chant/poem though

I think of all of them as chants or poems, even though I know they're mostly songs. I've never been any good at making up tunes! I agree with you though, this one in particular goes best as a poem.

Speaking of poems, my favourite is that one about Mariel. I learnt it by heart when I was in fourth grade because I really liked it. Let's see if I can remember it...

Quote from: Mariel of RedwallThe Wind's icy breath o'er the land of death
Tells a tale of yet to come.
'Cross heaving waves which mark ships' graves
Lies an island known to some.
Where seas pound loud and rocks stand proud
And blood flows free as water.
To the far northwest which knows no rest
Came a father and his daughter.
The mind was numb, and the heart struck dumb
When the night seas took the child.
Hurled to her fate by a son of hellgate,
The dark one called The Wild.
You who they seek though you do not speak
The legend is yet to be born.
One day you will sing over stones that are red
In the misty summer dawn.

Redwall Musician

Who says that I am dead.
Knows not at all.
I-a that is
Two mice within Redwall.
The warrior sleeps
Twixt hall and Cavern Hole.
I-am that is
Take on my mighty role.
Look for the sword in
Moonlight streaming forth
At night when days first hour,
Reflects the north.
Look over the threshold
Seek what thou shall see.
I-am that is
My sword shall wield for me.

Did that just now by memory, so I probably got it wrong. But we all know that one don't we?
..."Where courage hides within the shawdows, patience within the storms, friendship in around every corner, and inspiration just outside your window."

Osu

Here's another one for the Rakkety Tam chapterthing songs - love those to death!

Another of my very favorites is from Taggerung, when Boorab has the dibbun choir singing a feast song, one of the little hogs sings something entirely different.

QuoteHo welcome to the feast, you beast,
I hopes you trip and fall.
I've got a fat grandpa, ha ha ha,
Who'll prob'ly eat it all.
The lark defends his feathery chest,
The sun has sunk into his vest,
If he don't bathe before too long,
There'll be an awful pong...

Hahahahaha!
Redwall is always open, its tables laden, to you and any of good heart.

Yes, yes! And Boorab was so horrified he broke his conductin' stick, didn't he? But the babe's grandpa thought he was terribly talented. I LOL every time I think of that.  ;D

I also really liked that song Joesph sang on the pearl queen the one about willum mole.

Trisscar95

The Dawn Song so Serene and pretty.
'Twixt leaning ash and poison gold,
Trisscar Swordmaid, look, behold,
What is sought by everyone.
Now! Ere high noon light moves on.'

Well, for one:

Romsca's challenge in Pearls of Lutra:

Quote from: Romsca, Pearls of LutraI'm the babe of a bloodripper,
Born in the teeth of a gale,
I'm the one who wields the sword,
An' makes the foebeast wail.
I'm as sharp as the reef rock,
I carry death in me paw,
Go where I like, slay who I will,
That's the corsairs' law!
Blood's me favourite colour,
Swifter'n lightnin' aye,
Stand out me way, stand out I say,
Step aside now, or die!
'Cos I'm the spawn o' nightstorm,
An' death sails in me wake,
I sheath me blade in innards,
An' what I want, I take!
Come one, come all, I'm waitin',
I'll flay yer carcass bare,
So everyplace I go they'll say,
" 'Ahoy, you bold corsair!"

Also Guja's song:

Quote from: Guja, Pearls of LutraIf there's plunder in the offin'
That's fer me, that's fer me,
An' I never charge, I'll kill you all for free,
Give me lots o' lovely loot,
An' a cask o' grog ter boot,
Up the anchor, loose the sails an' let me go!

Another great one from the king of composers, Gonff:
"Sala-manda-stron, look out here we come,
A thief, a warrior and a mole.
Though the quest may take it's toil,
We'll march until we reach our goal,
Sala-manda-stron."

That wasn't from memory, I read it out of my Mossflower book (which has certainly seen better days!). I also love it when Dinny starts singing:
"Salad-anna-sconn, lookit yurr 'ee come."
