She was my sister. Rose has only known me for fifteen years, but this was my first Lich body. I was a shadowpriest, but the temple I served at was going through hard times. I starved myself to keep my kid sister alive, and when I died, I learned necromancy so that I could save her. She didn't want to be saved, so I just saved her body.

I can honor your sacrifice, but using the body of another as a puppet is cruel, no matter the circumstances. A body is only worthy as an agent of rebirth once its soul has left it, and you have implanted your soul into the body of another, Lich. Defend yourself! Life has its course, and I will not allow that to be disrupted, especially at the expense of another. *Green light begins to swirl around*

Relinquish this body so that it may go to its rest, or I will force you to do so!

*The Lich girl grins, waves her lollipop, and disappears with a slight pop*

Thanks Rus, you saved my bacon. Well, ok, the lollipop saved my bacon, but you distracted her long enough for me to retrieve it.

*Faint green tendril of light* AHHHGGHHHHHH! Come on.... Work.... GHHHH! *Is pulled towards the tendril and disappears in a flash of green and illusionary leaves*

*Reappears in front of the Lich girl* Nice try. You seriously think I can't hitch a ride on a teleportation spell? It's one of the first things Theurgists learn when learning to combat Liches.

  Rus if the owner of the body consented to its use I do not see the fault in it. It is like donating organs. Just so long as the person was not killed and died naturally (More or less) it is moraly ok. although the fact that she was dead already... oh whatever...

What a clever boy. Sadly, that wasn't a teleportation spell. And this is an illusion. It has been from the beginning.

*she begins to fade away*

If it had really been a teleportation spell, there wouldn't have been a pop!

I suspected that form was illusory... But all illusions have a source. *Focuses green light* I will find you. Not today, maybe. But I will. *Shines green, and then flies sharply into the air as a formless green beam*


*Appears behind Blue* You're very welcome. Oh, here. *Jabs three fingers into the back of Blue's neck, creating a green symbol that fades away quickly*

I know little of that... Man? Girl? Creature? However, if she, he, or it is indeed a lich using the form of another, I am sworn against her. Liches, in and of themselves, are not evil. However, using the form of another is a crime as defined by the Order of the Silver Rose. I am an Archmage of the Order, and as such I must uphold our law.

And I am well aware that you can protect yourself. However, the help of another is not a good thing to deny, especially if they practice Theurgy. I bear the title of Healer, defense and protection is my trade. As you are no doubt aware, shadow magic has many counters against itself. Far fewer against Theugists- In fact, spells to debilitate us are seldom used by any.

Good grief. Think about it this way:

If you take Fuscia-Sensei's body away, what do you think she'll do next? Yup, find another body. A body that she has even less right to have. She'll take another body and poof, no-body of this era will ever see her again.

I don't give a hoot about this 'Order of The Silver Rose', they can all go boil their bottoms for what I care.

Also, if your 'help' will harm my mistress, I don't want it. It would leave a bad taste.

What if the source was Rose? It was an illusion how do you know that what she said was true? She could be some one else who you have nothing against... or Blue.

I don't mean to discharge her- I mean to purge her. As a disembodied soul, little evil can be commited. Heard of a Phylactery? It's where a lich stores their soul so that they may live forever.

There are options for a lich other than possession- The best of which being oblivion, as it is the natural course of things, but I know a man who can make a quite capable clockwork body.

Let me state something else- Had your Fuscia-Sensei known the first thing about Theurgy, she could have conjured bread and water rather than become a Lich. Shadowmagic is most certainly not always inferior to Theurgy- However, Theurgists are most definitely the superior guardians.

As for Blue being the source- Unlikely. I can trace magic- One of the skills I was taught recently. I can tell that there are wards placed around the source- And no wards are present here.

So- Faiy, Skarzs, enjoying the ice cream I see?

Shadowpriests aren't able to use light magic unless they have been previously trained to handle both light and dark magics. And on top of that, every conjuration has a price. Or perhaps you didn't know that? One of the reasons that the area around the shadow temple had no food was because of a pompous lord nearby who had Theurgists conjuring him food, but the food was taken from the poor people.

Clockwork bodies don't suit a Lich's needs. We tried that route already.

Scarlett gave Fuscia-Sensei her body on the condition that Fuscia-Sensei use it for good. Fuscia-Sensei would never break a promise to her precious sister, no matter how many years ago it was.

Conjuration does have a price- But a skilled Theurge can use soil from fifteen miles off to make his bread.

A clockwork body can indeed suit a Lich's needs- I have seen it work successfully at least twice. Not every lich, not every clockwork, but it is in most cases an adequate solution.

Absolute power corrupts, absolutely. Exceptions are exceedingly rare. Lichdom is indeed absolute power- Death has no hold over you, sickness cannot harm you- Nor can anything else unless it strikes directly against your phylactery. I have no doubt your Fuscia Sensei would not break her word, now. But in two hundred years? Three? The human mind is not engineered to accept so many memories- Inevitably it will either snap or shut down. If a Lich is able to avoid the second, the first will invariably happen. A Lich is a threat to all- Even if not immediately- regardless of oaths they have sworn.
