Watch out, though: the store-bought ones are made of cheap stainless steel, and if you misuse it, you might end up breaking it and hurting yourself.
I've seen it happen, cause it happened to me on several occasions.

I'm not getting a real blade until I learn how to use a wooden one. That would be stupid.
Was anyone else on the old DAB forum, circa 2009? I was recently reminded of it, lol.

Bitterly jittery, and not very glittery.

And my mom would kill me for swinging around a real sword. I may be able to get a good quality katana (when I'm ready for a real one) at the local SCA. (Society for Creative Anachronism)

Making my very own falcate out of a leaf spring.

Apparently it's 'Curved like a sickle; scythe.'

Leaf springs... Those are a pain to work with, if I'm not mistaken. My friend was making a short katana-like sword out of one, but he gave up because it was too hard to forge. Instead he used a horseshoe rasp. But he eventually came back to it and made a goblin-y sword. It's almost like a mini version of the giant headlopper my instructor made.

The Skarzs

How to explain. . . it's a relatively short sword with a re-curve on the top half.
I'll try to make a crude drawing.

Like that. Kind of like a shorter version of Thorin's sword in the Hobbit movie.

Meanie.
Yeah, I kinda am, but only a bit. I have to get a paying job before I can even think of getting a sword. And I have to find a sparring partner.

I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

BlueRose

Haha. There's a kid at my church who might want to learn with me... I figured kendo would suit his tastes more than waltzing, which his sisters are begging me to teach them. :)

Yeah, rubber bands are useful. Although I don't shoot 'em, I hold it like I would shotting one, push the leading thumb against the victim, then release. Hurts so much worse.  :D
