Purple? I don't mind purple. It's a magicky color.

...Lime green is the WORST color. ESPECIALLY when paired with purple. The only color combination worse is brown and white.

Pale purple and lime green work... I was thinking more along the lines of royal purple and red, but perhaps springy-er colors would be better.

That's a much better idea than all coral. All coral would probably make him look like a yakuza (mafia gangster).
