Imagine how villain conversations at the watercooler would go.

Slagar: "I enslave Dibbuns and give them a whack with my mace if they fall outta line!"
Ublaz: "Well I once hypnotized one of my lackeys to jump out a window. You should have heard the splat!"
Gulo: "Pah, that's nothing! I EAT anyone I don't like!"
Cluny: "Have any of you fools ridden a horse?"
Slagar: "No."
Ublaz: "Er, no."
Gulo: "What's a horse?"
Cluny: "I see. Bow before your new master."

That is hilarious!!  :D  :D  :D  :D

I've always wondered what happened to it after it went crashing off.. ^.^ As horses are tied for my favorite animal, I was always on the watch for another!

Yesterday is history... Tomorrow is a mystery... Today is a gift... and that's why its called - The Present...

Osu

Agreed with the  horse just being there to show off Cluny's power. XD

I'd have liked to know if it was able to talk to any of the characters, or if size would make communication impossible.
Redwall is always open, its tables laden, to you and any of good heart.

Redwall was Brian Jacques' first book, and he hadn't really settled into the style we know and love yet. You never see any evidence of human-sized objects or of animals over a foot tall again in the series.

Also, I personally think that the name "Ratdeath" for Martin's sword (and Jacques apparently did too, since you never hear it again) is cheesy.

he mentions piglets to very peculiar it was probably because it was because it was the first redwall book he wrote

I don't recall hearing about any piglets.  ???

If I remember right, they were mentioned when Methuselah was recounting Cluny's previous infamy -- they were eaten alive by his army (an easily-forgotten detail that easily puts the Scourge near the top for bloodthirstiness, if he didn't rank up there by his other deeds alone).

Yeah, that part always made me cringe

page 27. "As the hordes of Cluny the Scourge have moved southswards over the past six years, I have gathered intelligence of other incidents: a farmhouse set alight, later that same year . . . piglets, an entire litter of them eaten alive by rats . . . sickness and disease spread through livestock herds by Cluny's army."

So there's definitely something to Cluny's army being fearless enough to tackle big creatures that weren't in other books (like mentioning they caused a herd of cows to stampede). That could be an in-universe reason why the creatures weren't referred to in other books, Cluny's army probably scared them off.

...wait a minute, years? Six years? Interesting, you'll never hear that term in any other book.

Nightfire

Yeah, they always count in seasons.  ::)

This is simply hilarious this is a prime redwall joke

Cluny probably brought the horse from wherever he came from.I(if I was a Redwaller)personally wouldn't want to go there.
