They are pretty sweet, aren't they?

Oh yeah, I would love to have that in my collection.

If you had to choose one sword to use in battle, which would you go with?

Of course, I like the rapier, but it was more for fencing and duels as well as self-defense. I'm not sure why it couldn't be used in warfare though.

Maybe I would use a spear or a scimitar. Spears seem to be effective, and scimitars...are lethal.

I would go with the old-fashioned Broadsword. It doesn't have to be pretty, just to inflict a lot of damage.

You would have no space to thrust effectively and use the right techniques. I would use a messer myself.

Wow, 6 pages and no "Best Sword" arguments, i'm surprised
also my personal favorite would be the Spathea (like a gladius but longer)

I am the hydrogen bomb in a necktie,
I hold the flames of a thousand collapsed stars,

I think it's a Roman cavalry sword.

Maces (Gadas in particular) are more my style. I can knock out my enemies and take them prisoner and sell them to the ransom broker in Praven, never mind, I'm going into Mount and Blade: Warband. :P I love Skallagrim's Grossemesser. (I believe that's how it's spelled.)

But no, I haven't seen those swords. I will ask Google about them.

I looked this up; the most common is called a macuahuitl. It was made of wood and had edges lined with obsidian. Quite cool :)

The Mayans might have had good swords, but they clearly weren't good enough to stop the Spanish.
