John and Bill were sitting around the campfire, preparing a crude soup. "We've  been traveling fer days any we've nay seen a sign o those vermin." said John darkly. "Oh, them villyuns r'bound te show up sumwhere, burr aye." Replied Bill. Suddenly, a noise was heard in the bushes surrounding their camp.

Edraithel

OOC: so do you want us to come in now or do you have something else planned?

OOC: Yeah, that was the plan.

Edraithel

OOC: Ok

BIC: Avalon walked straight into the camp and calmly sat down on the other side of the campfire across from John and Bill. She had seen the soup they had been preparing.
"Have you got any good food to share, all I have is a couple of flasks of pear cordial, a few honey oat cakes, and some vegetable turnovers?"
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire." - Eowyn, Lord of the Rings

"Aye, if ye share some o that cordial! I avent tasted good drink since we left." Bill took out a wooden bowl, and proceeded to fill it with the leek soup he had been preparing before handing it to Avalon.

Edraithel

"I'd be happy to share, where'd you leave from?" Avalon inquired as she handed two flasks to the pair and took the bowl of soup.

"We've come from the outskirts o Mossflower, a marauding group o  vermin kilt lots o my friends. Were here to hunt them down."  John replied. Bill let a tear stream down into the soup. " Thankee koidley for e drinks misse" was Bills distraction from his obvious distress.

Avalon's voice was low and came almost to a growl, and she reached a paw up to her back and grasped the claymore that lay across it, "I know of vermin and their ways, my father Ivo the Brave, ruler of Salamandastron, was killed by a band of the murdering beasts. I've come to seek justice for him. I've been tracking the band that came east from the coast.

Eddy cursed as he picked his way through the dark and tangled forest. He was hot on the traitorous scum's tail, so there was no way he could stop now!
He had good mates back in the horde. He hadn't had a bad life. It didn't matter the past now, he would hunt down and kill all of them.
He swore like a searat and hopped up and down as a branch snapped under his foot, cutting a gash across his paw.

Aron ran his paw along the ground, glaring at it as his brother sighed.

"Oi told yew, bruvva, the trail don't lead vis way.  I' went left, no' roight!"  Eron pointed back the way they came, where a very faint set of pawprints could be seen.

The older twin, Aron, gritted his teeth in irritation, standing slowly and growling, "Wheel, then, maybe yu should be trackin', not mae.  Aye, Eron?"

The thief smirked and grabbed his brother's arm, leading the taller otter back to the correct path.  They followed this slowly for a few minutes before the two beasts were rewarded with the sight of a campfire in the distance.  Eron took out his bow and nocked an arrow as Aron unsheathed his blade, both quietly inching their way towards the camp.

Within moments, they had gone as far as possible without being seen, and the warrior glanced at his thief of a sibling, mouthing, "Three, two, one..."  They charged into the camp, both screaming, "For Holt Streambattle!"  But the camp was not full of vermin, as they had expected.  No, there were three beasts sitting around the fire, eating soup: a mole, a squirrel, and a badgermaid.

The twins stopped in their tracks, shocked.  Then, as fast as possible, Aron sheathed his sword, and Eron shoved the steel arrow back into its quiver.  "Wae're soo soorry," Aron said, heat rising to his cheeks.  "Wae thoought yu waere somebaest else."

"Aye, er... s-sorry, mates."  Eron slung the bow over his back, embarrassed and slightly afraid.  They had just crashed a camp; who knew what a beast might do when they'd been so rudely interrupted, by creatures with weapons, no less?

Just after Avalon finished her sentence a pair of otters came running into the camp with their weapons raised. She tensed but remained sitting, for soon they put up their weapons.
As they stuttered out explanations she put up a paw to stop them and said, "There was no harm done, please sit. Share our meal there's more than enough."
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire." - Eowyn, Lord of the Rings

John did not agree with Avalons attitude. He leaped up and drew his sword, and Bill brandished his ladle threateningly. "Wot dew yew want wit us, nosey beasts? Looking for a fight?" Proudly showing off his green tunic and bark emblem, John used them to display his rank as a warrior in his tribe. " Hurr, youm best be explaining youmselves quickloike . An none o youm stuttering sirs." Said Bill.

OOC: I wrote this right before Edrathiel posted, which is my explanation for their behaviour.

After nodding to Aron, Eron began speaking, his paws raised in submission.  "We maen yu no 'arm, it's just... we fought yu were... um, vermin.  See, we been trackin' vese vermin, an' we ran 'cross your camp.  Finkin' yu to be vose scum, we troid crashin' the... erm, par'y, which, by the way, very sorry abou' vat.  Bu', um, vis was all jus' a big mistake.  No 'arm done, roigh'?"

"And what vermin scum would this being?" Avalon stood up.
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire." - Eowyn, Lord of the Rings
