Arya smiled, "That's pretty."

The Skarzs

"Do you have any descriptions?" Garth asked. It seemed it was working, at least a little.

"No......I never thought about doing that before." Arya confessed, a rather sheepish smile on her face.

The Skarzs

"Would you like me to tell you how I do my descriptions?" Garth said slowly.

"If you want to..." Arya said, just as slowly.

The Skarzs

"Well, imagine you're trying to tell it to a blind person who has never seen it before, then close your eyes and let the words form by themselves. . . I feel like I'm boring you. I'll stop talking." Garth looked into the flames, his cheeks blushing. He felt awkward talking so much to any beast, especially a pretty female squirrel. . .

"Okay..." Arya said, then thought for a moment. Perhaps......Water? Yes, water would do. She drew in a deep breath breath, and began: "Water. Sweet, cold, crystal clear. But it's far more than that: It can come in all shapes and sizes. It can gently lap at the bank, drawing it away. It's one of the strongest thing's in the world, yet one of the weakest. Beautiful." She summed up, then looked at garth. "Well, what do you think?"

The Skarzs

Garth smiled. "I like it."
He was silent, then looked back at Arya. "What was it like to play?" He asked this because he had never really gotten the chance to play as a child, and wondered what others thought of it.

Arya blinked once or twice, then looked at her paws. "You want the truth, the whole truth, or a lie?" She asked finally.

The Skarzs

Garth was surprised. "What? Well, I would like the truth, but. . . is it that painful?" He felt bad for asking the question now.

"It's an old wound, so it doesn't hurt. Much."Arya said, then grinned. She paused for a moment, then went on. "I don't know. I was the oldest. My father died about when I turned five seasons, leaving my mother pregnant. When Valec was born, he was sickly, so I never played with him. In fact, I never did play....I had to quiet, and besides, we were in mourning at the time. When I was fifteen seasons, Valec died. So I went roving, leaving my mother in capable paws." She said, then closed her eyes. "My bad dream was about watching Valec die. I was there at the time. It was horrible..." She said, her voice sinking to a whisper.

The Skarzs

"What happened?" Garth whispered back.

"We were out in the woods one day, and suddenly we were surrounded by ferrets. They laughed, and jeered, and one of them started kissing me against my will, and Valec started fighting him. Then they all laughed, and jeered some more, and then one of them proposed a duel. They forced him to accept, and the ferret was far more skilled with ablade than Valec, and toyed with him....." Arya said, her eyes startng to water again.

Garth's eyes blazed when he heard what the ferret had done, and placed a paw on her paw. "Hush, you don't need to say any more. I understand." He pulled back his paw, embarrassed that he had done so. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. . ."

It's fine....He was only ten, Garth. Ten." Arya said, then started to cry again.
