Noticed that diff books have different kinds. What's your favorite?

Fairy: Not simply snow white. All those grimm's fairy tales. Most characters are humans or fairies. However Moderen Fairy is more the mischievous imp side of it.

Classic Fantasy: My favorite. Trolls, goblins, spells, etc. Seems to have a different feel.

Tolkenien: Orcs and such. Kinda inbetween the former and the latter.

Modern: Orcs, powerful mages, and every little detailed has been changed. Quite a few older creatures have been changed. (Who thought that trolls should regenerate all flesh in mere seconds?)

Ooh, hard choice.

The old fairy stories are really intriguing, their sometimes dark emotional feel grasping me tightly.

The classical fantasy are great, because, hey; they're classics. Also, trolls.

Tolkienen is a whole can of worms on it's own, a massive world filled with mystery, battle, legend, and some of the greatest tales ever told.

Probably my least favorite is the modern, although I can't say that some are really cool. Yeah, it's got magic (WOO), orcs (EPIC), and best of all, trolls (Yeah, it comes to sense we regenerate, although I feel it should only be when coming into contact with stone ;D)

I have a question as well: in what category would Redwall fit in?

I don't think Redwall counts as fantasy- It's more medeval, there's no fantasy elements besides anthropomorphic animals, really. And Martin's Ghost, I suppose.

My personal favorite would be the style of fantasy presented in D&D 2e-3.5e. First edition was 100% Tolkeinien, it was basically a tabletop LOTR game. However in AD&D 2e it became much more original. There are three entire books centered around monsters, filled with lots of things, Tolkeinien and otherwise. Yes, there are still orcs and goblins and trolls and dragons. But there are also Beholders, and Dopplegangers, and Shrieker Fungi, and Yeth Hounds, and Planetouched- Aasimar and Tieflings. Lots more original things I could list off the top of my head.

So if that's what you mean by 'Modern' then that's my favorite. However, I think D&D fits more into 'Classical' with any video game based off of it drifting into 'Modern.'

AD&D 2e: Released 1989
WoW: Released 2004

D&D sounds cool!

Well, ima go read some of the books I brought down 3 days ago. These books called The Little Fold and Gnomes, along with some grins fairy tales. Gnomes is an older book about, well, gnomes and trolls.

As the best work of literature to ever see the sun is LOTR I must say Tolkienen.
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

TROLLS!
'Trolollololooololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol ur bad quit the game ur an idiot go die durrrr im stupid'

I think I much prefer fantasy trolls. Yeah, they try to eat you, but they're usually at least marginally more intelligent and they delight at EATING you, not at making you miserable.

Or maybe I just shouldn't play MOBA's...

The Mask

Wait he say 'that' a lot?

Anyway, I think I like all of them. Modern, like Skarz is my least favourite but it's still pretty good.
I am a squirrel, an otter, a mouse, a fox, a stoat, a ferret, a weasel, a wildcat, a hare, a hedgehog, a badger; I am the master of disguises, The Mask.

Classical is my favorite. Dragonlance, and my saga of choice, Forgotten Realms, are really great examples. It laid the foundation for fantasy as we know it- excepting figures like Tolkien, of course.
"'Tis the business of small minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."
-Thomas Paine

"Integrity and firmness is all I can promise; these, be the voyage long or short, shall never forsake me although I may be deserted by all men."
-George Washington

Courage: Not only the willingness to die manfully, but also the determination to live decently.

High Fantasy: A fantasy set in a world with different rules and physical laws to Earth. A world with no gravity, for example.

Low Fantasy: A fantasy set in a world that follows the physical laws and rules of Earth. Non-rational things may occur, but they are not common.

Except that ancient, dark fairy stories were surely the first, and possibly could have been the beginning of classical.
