Just don't grab her tail. Leopard geckos will sever their tails if they feel threatened. But other than that their pretty resilient to hugging.
Ive tried it. Her belly is soft as velvet by the way.

So do a lot of lizards and salamanders; trust me, I've done it. She looks to be a rather calm critter.

Well, it makes sense for her to sever her tail. I mean, if you were a lizard and somebody grabbed your tail, wouldn't you feel threatened?
