Psh, that's nothing compared to General Brag at Chatanouga  :D :P

However, the south did have better generals until Grant.
I think Lee was the best, even though he was on the short end of the stick. According to this book I have, Lee was sympathetic to the Union, but was so devoted to his home southern state that he chose to fight for the confederacy.

It's true, he really did not want Virginia to secede.

Courage: Not only the willingness to die manfully, but also the determination to live decently.

I've heard about that Jasper! He plugged part of his cannon with his finger, burning it too the bone. To be honest, I dont really like Gettysburg that much, so tell me, what is Picketts Charge? I have no idea  :P

It's considered the highest point the confederacy ever reached in the war - the turning point of the battle that was the turning point of the war. The line the hero stood at is the farthest they ever advanced into union territory. The charge itself was led by General Pickett (confederate) and was a desperate attempt to take the field in a headlong charge with nearly his entire command. Unfortunately for them, union forces tore the charge apart and slaughtered them with casualty percentages higher than nearly any other units in the entire war.

Ha what about Burnsides attack at Fredericksburg, it was a complete disaster and he didn't quit after the first charge either he kept sending wave after wave.

The South only lasted as long as they did because of incompetent Union generals. They ultimately failed because of lack of resources and ruined railroads.

LT Sandpaw

That and because of the brilliance of SOME confederate generals.

I lived in Texas for awhile, and despite being abominably hot, I'd rank it as one of the best places I've ever been at.

Søren

I love Texas. But I don't have any "loyalties". That war ended 150 years ago.  :P

The fighting ended, but I'm not sure the war will ever be over. The next time you're down south, call someone a Yankee and see what kind of a response you get. ;)

Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

*Bows too Delthion* I shall never pick on you, Delthi-Kun.

Maybe.  :P
