I thought it was pretty spiffy when I first saw it. Some commenter did note that it might have just been a gift for someone else, though, which isn't quite as cool as if the Obama girls were reading them themselves. (They also bought some Junie B. Jones books, so clearly not all of their purchases were meant for personal reading.) Still, it never hurts to get some extra publicity.

Certainly likely that some of the purchases are gifts. The acquisition of the first three Redwall books IS a rather specific purchase though, and one of the Obamas is about the age the books are geared toward. My thought was that perhaps it's for school. Of course, it could certainly be reading for pleasure as well.

I find it funny how so many people zoomed in on the books, and to our surprise, they found Redwall!! I hope they enjoy them!!
