WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!

Give me two minutes before you sit on him!

Hey, Soren, want me to ressurect you after he sits on you? Here, let me get these neural scans and a few cells off your tongue...

Don't let him! Mnemonic clones are terrible!

Oh, Rus, you shouldn't have mentioned it. You are once again subject to my teasing. >:D

I have business to attend to, sorry. Can't be coming with you. *dematerializes* *rematerialize in front of Soren* I haven't completed those scans yet. Let me finish.
Ok fine.

You can sit on Oracle too.  ;D

Sitting on me won't do you much good. I take regular neural and physicl scans, I can 'respawn' if you kill me.
It's still gonna be satisfying.
*Sits on all three one at a time.*

*sigh* Look. Regardless of your opinion of mnemonic clones, I have Soren's permission to resurrect him... Soo... I'm going to do so. Personally, I'd rather wake up after dying, even if my DNA has deteriorated in a miniscule way than not wake up at all. *Puts away scanner* Soren, you'll remember everything up to the point where I began scanning.

Okay, Skarzs, you're clear to sit on us. Go ahead.

I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

I don't understand why people have issues with mnemonic clones, they sound like a great idea to me. Your completely developed consciousness planted in an identical body after death? Sounds great, sign me up

"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

James Gryphon

The trouble is that it isn't your consciousness that's transferred, just your memories. If you die, you're not any less dead than you were before just because somebody made an identical clone of you. Such clones could be great for the people that knew that person, but it doesn't help the deceased at all.

That would imply that a consciousness is a separate entity from all of your bodily functions, and that you are more than the sum of body + brain + everything stored in brain. While that may well be the case, I don't think that's a common truth in most sci-fi settings, and personally I don't think it is a truth in the actual world. Regardless, that's philosophy, and philosophy is hard.

Sci-fi stands for science fiction, as well. Fiction being the key word.

Faiyloe

Personally I believe that a person consciousness as you call it is in the soul and that cannot be duplicated. But that's religion and I don't want to start a fight so that is all I will say on the mater (Not trying to convince anyone here just stating)

James Gryphon

Setting aside the issue of the soul: whether some entity somewhere else has a brain that is very similar or even identical to yours is irrelevant if your own gray matter is destroyed. If your brain isn't physically moved, your perception of the world isn't going to magically go into some other body -- whether someone copied the information in the brain doesn't change the fact that your perception is still based in your dying body. If I transfer all the information on a dying hard drive to a new hard drive, the new hard drive does not 'become' the old hard drive -- the old, damaged one is still there, sitting on my desk.

The Mask

I think its fine. If you have your memories and experiences, your personality may well reform itself. And in my opinion, it would be you considering it knows everything about.
I am a squirrel, an otter, a mouse, a fox, a stoat, a ferret, a weasel, a wildcat, a hare, a hedgehog, a badger; I am the master of disguises, The Mask.

We are only 9 days away from the prom. Are we going to have a king and queen?
