I'm getting a new computer!

A friend of mine was here yesterday, for about seven hours he helped me pick out computer parts! We're going to build me a new computer! It'll be really powerful! Super awesome! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'll post a list of specs once I have a list available.

Only thing is... A friend of mine has a much worse computer than I do, he'd be really jealous if I told him... I don't want to hurt him, but it's not something I can/could/would want to keep from him... So I don't know what to do :/

Well, maybe you could offer to let him use it some time, or perhaps eventually help him make one like yours.

He lives in another town, I can't really offer to let him use it. And this computer is being made on a larger budget than he's likely to have access to for a while, and his computer is kinda dying...

Not really. My current (old) computer is a laptop, and it's kinda crucial that I have a laptop as well, I need to be able to move a computer and do things at other places... Which you can't really do very well with a 30 lb desktop + monitor + keyboard...

Excellent. Why not buy a Cray supercomputer and give the current one to your friend.

   ...Because I do weekly classes at another location that involve bringing a computer. Desktops are heavy, there's a reason laptops exist. Other than portability, desktops are better in every way. Laptops are more expensive, less upgradeable, and less powerful.

Nnnooo... You can't upgrade a mac, which is one of the major benefits of building your own computer.

Macs aren't great for gaming... Which is most of what I use my computer for.
