I've always wondered what other people thought about this - and I'm really not sure why I didn't just go ahead and ask.

What would your ideal ending be, if you were the focus of a Redwall book?

Would you find your true love, marry them and live happily ever after?

Would you die in glory, honor and valor? (Do those mean the same thing? I think they mean the same thing! :) )

Would you fall asleep peacefully beneath a tree?

Would you sail off on the deck of a ship into the sunset?

Would you be a traveler, setting off to undertake in more adventures?

Søren

Hmm, interesting.
I guess I would think that I would ether want to die in awesomeness covered glory, or, get married or something.
If it was supposed to be a sad book, my wife would get killed at some point in the story and I would get angry and get my revenge.
If it was more lighthearted, I'd difinnantly want to have a happy ending.

Die in honor and glory for those dear to me... ;D

That or the first one. But maybe adventuring into faraway lands...
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Dieing in your sleep sorta sounds nice.

I think leaving the ending a little open-ended so that the reader thinks about it a little would be the most fun for writing. But as for me personally, falling asleep under a tree after reflecting on my quest/adventure would be a very peaceful way to end the tale, and I think it'd give a sense of nostalgia to it as well :)

Dying in your sleep is... well, in redwall, it's just plain wimpy. I would say... traditional redwall ending, "You can always come in your imagination"... *nudge nudge, wink wink*

Most of the Redwall books end with them eating, so dyeing from to much food should be an option ;D

I would pick the traveler one,

How is that wimpy?

Ooh, this is hard.

I'd do dying peacefully, reflecting on what I did or getting married and living happily ever after... Hang on, those can co-exist.  ;D

While dying would provide a nice feeling of closure to the story, I don't think another adventure would go amiss...
Well, that or another meal...

Poor old Albrithr, he was a brave fellow. Well, at least he died on a full stomach!
