I'm not siding with Cap just because I like him and dislike Iron Man.  I've always liked Cap because of what he stands for, and Civil War only strengthens that.  IRL, I'd still side with Cap.

When his fights were destroying your city without any consequence of that falling on him? (That's what the movie is about, not the original plotline from the comics in which Iron Man is really quite stupid)

At the same time, would their fights be any less destructive if they were under government control? :P Of course, that means the government would be to blame and they would be the ones to fix it (with taxpayer dollars. . . ::)), but that isn't different to the repairing of previous battles.

I don't know about the cinematic universe, but from the little bit I do know about the civil war in the comics, it's true that there's no way the general public would be cool with Captain America's position, in real life. What's more, I'm not sure that he's actually in the right to hold those views.

It's one thing to see the Caped Crusader streak over the skies of Metropolis in the comic world, where everybody is used to him and knows what a great guy he is, but if that ever happened in real life, people would be terrified. Who knows who or what this guy is? ...and more to the point, who gave him the right to get into random people's business in the first place? Maybe a bystander can get by with stopping an obvious catastrophe (like a sinking ship), or mediating a peaceful solution between antagonists, but I think society has quite clearly drawn a line against letting just anybody who wants to dress up in creepy costumes and play at being a police officer (with all the physicality and force that job involves), which is what DC and Marvel superheroes most typically do. Wannabe superheroes would need the intelligence and observational skills of Batman or Superman just to not get in trouble. Almost as many Americans as not don't even trust the police, who are actually trained to do this work; how do you think they'd feel about vigilantes taking the law into their own hands?

And that's not even getting into the animosity people would feel about super-powered goons fighting it out with each other and wrecking cities, as, like the posters above have mentioned, they so often do. After one such big battle, I guarantee that 99% of the population would be A-OK with getting all of these 'freaks' under control as soon as possible, even if it meant curtailing a few people's 'civil liberties'.

I agree with comic Captain America's views in this matter, everyone has a right to privacy, but not movie Captain America's.

Simplified, it's the entire plot of Avengers: Civil War. :D

I have not seen that one. ;D
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Jetthebinturong

That's because it isn't out yet.

Deadpool was pretty good.

Avengers: Civil War is a comic book. Captain America: Civil War is the movie coming out in May that's based on the comic. It's not out yet either. ;D

As for choosing sides, I've avoided reading their motives because I'm trying to avoid spoilers. BUT, I can base my decision on my -extensive- knowledge of the heroes. #TEAMCAP.

Wouldn't have expected Deadpool to be anything but R rated.
