OOC: Guards can't just arrest people for no reason. There must be evidence.

Erich knocked on the prison gate impatiently.

"What're yew 'ere fore?" Asked a rat jailer.

"I wish to see the latest prisoners," Erich replied.

"Very 'ell," said the rat. "I'd watch yer step if I were yew, though. Some 'o these magical beasts can be dangerous."

...

Grasping a torch, the rat lead Erich through the dark, cavernous jail. The ermine could hear the pleading and begging of prisoners, but ignored them. Erich knew that all of the prisoners were in jail for very good reasons, and he wasn't about to let any of them run free.

At last, the two arrived at a cell marked number thirty-four. "This is it," mumbled the jailer.

Erich knocked on the cell bars, hoping that the residents were conscious enough to hear him.

The Skarzs

Haenrok didn't want to think about the sensation he had when his body parts had turned to stone, and he sat down slowly as it gnawed at him. "I-I guess I'm a living statue. . . at least I was when I had a run-in with some soldiers. My paws and arms turned to stone, I couldn't feel anything. . ." He closed his eyes and covered his face with a paw. "What is happening to me. . ." He speculated that the squirrel probably felt the same way, with her. . . sparks of lightning on her body.

Suddenly he heard the sound of approaching footsteps, and went to the door as someone knocked. He slammed against it with his paw. "What do you want?" he growled.

Though it took every bit of his willpower not to get angry at the otter, Erich tried to hide his feelings behind a pleasant smile. "Good afternoon," he said. "I trust the jailer is treating you well?"

The Skarzs

Haenrok folded his arms and stayed silent as he looked at the ermine through the bars. He was willing to punch the daylights out of this beast if he gave any reason for him to do so.

"I've come to question you," Erich said. "Please don't try to resist-- I'd hate to have to take extreme measures."

Alarie just sat and stared at the floor, they where going to kill them and there was nothing that either of them could do about it, even if they could escape they would never make it out alive. "You know torturing us is probably going to be more painful for the one doing the touring," She said as a shower of blue sparks lit up her position for a moment. She was terrified and she was trying very hard not to let it show.
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

The Skarzs

Haenrok turned back to Alarie, concerned for the squirrel but trusting she would be alright for the moment. Facing the ermine once again, he said, "Well, if you are going to ask a question, then ask. Though I seriously doubt how much help I could possibly give you."

Thrown in into a dark cell alone battered and hungry Arron groaned miserably. He should have known better then too try and argue with the guards. They had asked over and over again who he was, they had placed burning sticks into his fur to see if he had magic.

He groaned again as he remembered the flogging he had received when they realized they couldn't burn him, beating him with their spears. When they were unable to drive any magic from him they had thrown Arron into the cell and had left.

Hearing a few creatures talking down a short distance away from his own cell Arron pricked his ears to listen to the conversation.

"What are you guilty of?" An official looking ferret asked looking down at Sven who was standing in chains.

"I don't know, probably just suspicious officers." Sven said indifferently concentrating on his claws and nearly ignoring the ferret.

"What is your name rat?" The ferret asked as a few guards chuckled at the rat's apparent ease with his situation.

"Not really yer concern is it." Sven replied flicking dirt out from under his claws. Grinning he glanced up at the ferret. "Hey, I have an idea, lets say we forget this whole thing, you let me go, an we all skip happily home. I personally say that's a good idea."

The ferrets face twisted nastily in rage raising his paw as if to strike Sven. "You insolent varmint." He roared, "I am an officer in the kings army and you dare speak to me this way. I shall have you put to death. Guards take him away."

A rat and a weasel came forward and led Sven away towards the dungeons, pushing  and shoving the stumbling rodent roughly.

OOC: You can't just put a beast to death for such a venial thing, You can threaten but not actually go threw with it. Seeing as he is charged with killing the royal guard in an "unprovoked," attack, he would probably be put to death any way. the penalty is a public hanging. That would only be after an investigation (This would not be very thorough unless he could pay for it). If the Guards initiated it and it was in self defense the penalty would be only to lose a paw (the dominate one preferably) and a short imprisonment or a fine (paid to the deceased's family) if he has the money. One thing that would have come up in the investigation would be that one of the now dead soldiers reported to Eric that he had caught one of the magic beasts just before the incident.

Arden quickly looked up to see a mouse holding at shovel at him. He quickly scrambled to his feet, took a few skips back and put his paw on his sword's hilt. "N-no, I wasn't... I was just trying to find out why the guards were here. That's all. Arden gave a nervous smile. His glance fell and he realized that he had dropped his odd flower on the ground. He knew what the guards did to magicbeasts. If anybody found it... Arden quickly glanced up, hoping that the mouse wouldn't try to see what he had been looking at.

Patrick lowered the shovel and said "They where looking for some one, they said that he killed two rats and used magic," Patrick looked at the ground and saw the odd flower "Is that yours?" He said picking up the flower and handing it back to the fox. He knew very little about flowers, to him they where all the same.

Arden accepted the flower from the mouse. "Uh... yes, it's mine. I just found it though!" Arden wasn't sure whether to trust the mouse or not, but since he mentioned magic, he decided that it might be safe to do so. "That's odd, somebeast using magic and all.. did they say what kind of magic they used?"

"Something about purple smoke. They really did a number to our barn... it's probably not safe to say out here like this," He hesitated and then added "I need to go check on my friend, make sure that she is ok, You can come with me if you want," he said and started towards the trees.

Ignoring Alarie, Erich questioned Haenrok. "When and where did you first become aware that you had magic?"

Surely, the otter would be willing to answer such a harmless question. If not, Erich had incentives in mind....

Canny took the soup gratefully, sipping it as he waited for Patrick to come back. When Patrick hadn't returned after a few minutes, Canny went out to see what was taking the mouse so long. The fisher cat exited the barn and began turning the corner just as Patrick began talking again.

"Something about purple smoke. They really did a number to our barn... it's probably not safe to say out here like this ... I need to go check on my friend, make sure that she is ok, You can come with me if you want."

Canny realized he'd begun holding his breath when Patrick mentioned purple smoke, and released the air with a gasp. When Patrick started heading for the trees, Canny turned and headed back inside the barn. The fisher cat grabbed the soup bowl and ran, heading towards the river, not wanting to risk the purple smoke happening around Patrick and whoever the mouse was talking to, and causing them to turn him in.
