This is the thread where we post stories that we wrote when we were young, it has to be either cringe worthy, or written when you were ten or younger. And as always, keep it clean!
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Mhera

My story is undated, but I found some old sketches from when I was 11 in the folder, so that's the age I'm dating my fic at. Ha! Saved by the rules! ;D

Delthion

But is it cringe worthy? If it is then you still can post it!

Oh gosh. If I only had access to "Within the Walls" on my phone. I still can't reread the thing without dying a little inside. (But that probably happens when you're supposed to be doing 7th grade math and end up writing a dumb story instead...)
Was anyone else on the old DAB forum, circa 2009? I was recently reminded of it, lol.

Bitterly jittery, and not very glittery.

I just read through it. The only thing that made me really cringe is how much the plot was ripped off of Eragon. Besides that it was better than I remember it being. So ten is probably a good cut-off age, I'll start digging deeper...

This is an example of one of the stories I wrote when I was a good deal younger, back in '03. This needs a fair amount of explanation to make sense. Back in '01, I wanted to set up my own "forum", like the bulletin boards that were popular back then. The software to make that happen wasn't nearly as accessible as it is now, and I was just a kid, so I did something rather unique. I made a folder on my hard drive, then put in text files and pretended they were 'posts'. The forum expanded from one or two folders to a massive directory rivaling our real forum here. There was a mod forum and everything.

The members on this forum... me and my mom. My dad made three or four posts, but other than that it was just the two of us. There was something like twenty accounts, though, with me playing I-don't-know how many characters, including moderators, average people, spammers, and other troublemakers.

I had a lot of inspiration from a bulletin board that a software company ran. It had distinct communities for each of its games, with their own distinct cultures. The forums I tended to look at had a strong tradition of RPing, or what they called "webstories". This was not unlike the RPing you know today, except that they were about galactic empires fighting it out, and so there were a lot of space battles, tech research, and fleets with numbers of ships.

Anyway, when I made my 'forum', I wanted to have my own 'webstory'. The first one, "The Waterlog", featured my main moderator-character, "theOtter" (a Redwall influence) fighting it out with another guy, "Moondog". Meanwhile, my mother's three characters were on the fringes of this, suffering collateral damage from the war. "theOtter" started out as the bad guy, but there was a flip-flop, and they switched sides. Then, in a spinoff that took over the story, "The Hurricane Crisis", a hurricane blew through, made everyone's lives difficult, and they all made up and lived happily until the next story.

That leads us in to this tale, "The Confederation Defeat". It's an unfinished story, unlike the Hurricane Crisis. I regret that, and would like to post up a finished one, but reading through the Waterlog and Hurricane Crisis makes me hurt, and I'll need a while before I can even muster up the pain tolerance to read it myself, much less letting any of you see it.  ;)

We are sailing back to the shore, back to our trading port to buy new goods to sell,  so we can go from port to port and look for buyers. Perhaps we can find someone at our trading port who is looking for goods but has no way of transporting them now. We prefer to travel together for safety purposes.

For a moment I am dumbfounded. What has happened? I am in incruciating pain from the claws. There is fire flying from his mouth but as I am not in the way I do not feel it. I see my friends, and suddenly I know what I have to do. I have bow and arrows on my back. I struggle to reach them and finally I have them in hand. I pull back, aim at his tender belly and fire.

The Dragon, not injured fatally but it is injured enough that it has to swoop out of arrow range. It snaps Eagleyes bow and arrow as well. Falcon watchs when he has a idea. He gets a bow and fires at Smog. He is injured enough so that he has to swoop away, not above, but down to the water and far away from arrows.

Otter, dressed in leader armor and wielding a large Otter leader sword, jumps into the water. He swims to Smog and slash quickly five times. Eagleyes falls out of Smog's Claws. Otter thrusts six times at the dragon. Smog slashs at Otter with his claws. Smog starts to fly up until they are very high up. Otter thrusts and slashs and repels while the Dragon slashs and rip and scratchs at Otter. The two combatants continue fighting while the Dragon continues to fly higher.

I fly up, up, up taking the Otter with me. My left wing doesn't work, but I take to the air and hiss at Chichawk. My sharp claws rip at Chichawk, knocking him out. Otter is ripped at and is now injured but his armor is really tough, because he has no broken bones at all.

My claws rip out and put a large hole in Birdman's Caraval.I hit Eagleyes vessel and put a hole in it also. Finally, the same happens to Chickhawks vessel. Now I am so badly injured that my special dragon fire powers are no longer able to work. I can still fly a little though, and my claws are as sharp as ever. I also have damaged Otter's armor more, but Otter is gallently fighting more, but he will not win unless help arrives.

I see theOtter fighting still, and I know that smogthedragon is badly injured. It is time to end this, because I am sure smog will try to escape with theOtter. The trick is to hit the dragon without hitting theOtter and to do it in such a way that he drops theOtter and we can save him. I signal to the other ships to be prepared to rescue theOtter. I tell Falcon and Seal I intend to use my best marksman at the cannon and blow smog to pieces. It will be one less dragon to fight in the future. They acknowledge my signal and wait. My marksman aims and I yell, "Fire."

Otter, with his last strength, thrusts at the Dragon and does the final blow that kills Smog. The Dragon falls into the water. Otter swims over and clings to Eagleyes vessel, one of the two ships not going to sink. Suddenly, the Queen Mary  shoots out. The Queen Mary goes into escort formation. The Trident Otter  races in, opens a thing with Chichawks vessel, and tugs it into port.

Seal owns this Royal Medical Center. I have no idea how much it cost and I am not sure how we all are going to pay. We have all been treated here so we are all concerned about it. You are the most badly injured but even I don't know how injured that it. Birdman has your armor; it is damaged. I am not sure if it can be repaired because that is not my line of expertise as you know. But the armor, my friend, saved your life. The sword, the last time any of us saw it, was in the belly of smog. It went down with him.

If that doesn't work, we may have to do hand-to-hand combat like we dig with Smog. Birdman and I are prepared to do that. Does that sound like a good plan to you?

Well, I think we had best head for the sea and get rid of these spar dogs. The longer we stand around and talk the larger they are growing and it puts fear even in my heart to have to meet another smog-size dragon. I know they can't grow that fast, but no sense in taking chances. I wonder if there are any more dragons out there. We can't worry about that now. Let's go. The more, the merrier.

I land on the Trident Otter and ask Otter what he thinks he is going to do with the spardrag. He says he thinks we can train it. I have my doubts. I say he should take it to the Royal Hospital and get it treated and we will have to decide what it eats. We must also build a place to keep it. It will have to be rock because once he gets his firepower he will use it. I tell theOtter so and suggest he may have to stay in the rocks of a mountain or a cave in the mountain. We will have to teach him to answer on command. All I have ever trained is eaglets. I ask theOtter what he has trained.

Good luck! I go out and jump into the water. Sword ready, I prepare to fight. A long way down you can see something big moving through the water. It comes up. The killer whale. I start ripping my sword into the KW and combat begins. The KW starts lashing at me with it's teeth. I continue fighting, and suddenly, high up, I see Striking Eagle coming down to land right on the water! I wonder what could have happened and see the spardrag with him. I continue slashing at the killer whale, because I have to kill it before Striking Eagle lands and then get him to land properly, not just go down and crash into water.

Indeed. You are as ancient as the soot that choked Pompeii into oblivion, though not quite as uncaring. - Rusvul

I wrote a weird story, it involves Robin Hood and a homeless kid........*Coughs*.........I wrote it when I was eight. I'll post it here (along with another slightly less cringe worthy story) when the computer is available.

I'll post my story later, but here's a short writing assignment from sixth grade (all misspellings and cross-outs are kept):

Quote from: If you could make a law, what would if be?Vienna Sausage should not be made, sold, or consumed. DeNot only isare the smell, taste and texture nausiating, they are probably on the Most Toxic, Lethal, Dangerous, Evil, and Hazordous Matiriels list. The first ingrediant is "mechanicly separated chicken. Though they are dirt cheap (about 38 c a can) and a favorite of the family dog, this stands is a stands as reason goes to show
Ran out of time during the assignment and so couldn't finish my tirade. I had a thing against Vienna sausage.

Here's part of a story I wrote when I was six, with original spelling intact. Don't know how much I'll post. Back then, I was reallyyy influenced by Laura Ingalls Wilder and some Amish school readers we still own (published by Rod and Staff). Anyway...

Chapter One: Traviling
The covered wagon jolted as it hit a bump. Inside it were grandma and grandpa and the three children, Beth, John, and Samuel. Their parents were in there, too.

"Papa," said Samuel. "I would like to get out of the wagon, and run behind the wagon for a while."

"Yes, Samuel," said his papa.

"May all of us go?" asked Beth.

"Yes," ansewered Papa. "But one at a time, please." Then he added, "John may go first." "I will make the horses go at a slow pace," he added.

So that was the way it was. John went first, and Beth second.

Chapter Two: Camping
The children ran behind the wagon, each for a few minutes. Soon their legs were tired. Then their Papa stopped The horses, and they all climbed in, one at a time, because they could not, all of them, crowd on to the same wagon wheel!

Oh, yes, and I almost forgot to tell you that Beth and the two boys had had very little schooling. But where they were going to settle there was a school only two miles away! But ofcourse children had to walk to school in those days, as there were no cars, or school-buses.

Then the sun began to set. "Look at the sunset, children," said Mama. "Isn't it Prettey?"

"Oh, yes!" said Beth. "Okay," Beth said. "Let's..."

"I know what you are going to say," Interrupted John. "You are going to say..."

"Lets ask eachother what our favorite colour is," finished Beth. "Mama and Papa, Listen Please," said Beth.

I have more chapters in the notebook (which was an anthology of various stories, most of which narrated the saga of Beth and her family), but I might post them later.
