I'm waiting for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind and Oblivion to go on sale.  Now that I'm nearly done with Skyrim, I'm becoming more interested in the older games.  Oblivion was on sale for $8.50 in August; really wish I'd noticed it then!  I can wait, though; $20 and $25 is cheaper than their original prices but still considerably more than I'd like to pay.  I wonder if they'll go on sale for Skyrim's 1-year anniversary, or else they usually have a big New Year's sale, I hear, so maybe it'll be on sale then.

They will most likely be on sale around Christmas. Steam does a HUGE Christmas sale every year.

It's a program/online store.  It's to help combat piracy - you buy the games through the Steam store (which of course then goes to the manufacturer) and download them using the Steam program (or else for some games you can purchase them at a retail store like Best Buy, and then in order to play them you have to type the registration code into Steam).  
It's pretty nice.  They do sales pretty frequently - this summer, you could get Portal and Portal 2 together for about $6, and this week I bought the most deluxe edition (includes all expansion packs and DLC) of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for about $12.   So for one, it's cheaper if you just wait for a sale.  Also, assuming you play the games while connected to the internet (you can play them offline too), your game data gets saved "in the cloud".  So for example you can play a game on the family computer, and after you're done playing it synchs your data to the cloud, and then you can go on your laptop and continue playing the same save file. ^^

I have a Steam account but I only got one to play Portal 1 & 2. (still need to play 2 actually....>.<) My sister made me download Team Fortress 2 because it was free but I haven't gotten around to checking it out yet.

*flameshieldup* TF2 *really* isn't that great. It's actually kinda uninspired. People spamming "HERE'S A SPY LOLZ" Too many hats, and little kids. The gameplay is a little too frantic for me, it seems to be based more on timing and luck than any real skill. Get a better gun, and bam, you dominate.

Its not THAT bad... But you do make some valid points. It's all those people with absolutely no lives that ever really get any where in that game (I was excited when I went on an 8 kill streak with a heavy). And the extremely low vitalit, mixed with the stupidity of the spy makes it.... a little bit low caliber.

What's a shame is that TF2's community is seriously one of the greatest of any game. The majority is generally pretty nice, but there's always bad eggs about. The server really matters. Competitive TF2 or Highlander is a better bet if someone wants to find games won and lost by actual skill. The name of the game is Team Fortress 2, and pubs don't live up to it. The game is meant to be played as a very cooperative, communicative two groups coordinating with good class and weapon composition. Most pubs are a far cry from that, and are generally won by two or three more experienced players with better aim and better know-how. This is why I increasingly don't play them. Or why I play so much Highlander, because rarely does anyone play the objective on that map. And the rocketjumps, sniper aims and scout/spy maneuvrs that dominate the map's layout are hard to master.

I really mostly play with stock weapons, as I find the negative trade-offs with the sidegrades too situational. If there's a bunch of heavies around, I'll change class and weapons to compensate. Then the other team will need too.

Don't really know why I just wrote all that out...just occured to me when I saw 'TF2'...

If any of you are looking for a true co-op game, you might want to check out Dungeon Defenders. It is a fantastic game that deserves to be in everyone's Steam library.
