From now on, nobody is going to wander off by himself. In fact, even pairs might be a bit risky considering that we still don't who the other Mafia member is. Travel in groups of at least three at all times.

Plugg Firetail's cautionary words replayed in every citizen's mind. Before Banya's execution, the former leader had disclosed that she had had a partner.

People still weren't safe.

Though it wasn't cold in the dormitory lobby, conditions made a few tremble in their place and wish they could just skip ahead in time several weeks. By then, the murderer had to be found.

"Uno," said Soren as he carelessly tossed a card onto the growing pile in the center of the group circle.

Someone cursed, and Mhera snapped, "Watch it" as she placed a "Wild" card on top of Soren's.

"Choose blue," said rrrrr, "I don't think Soren has blue."

"How would you know?" asked Gonff, elbowing him.

Mhera glanced at Soren, who was holding his card so tightly to his chest it appeared to be attached to his shirt.

"Does anyone have a +2 or +4 card?" asked Jet.

"No, I do-" Plugg started.

Suddenly, the lights went out.

"Oh. My. Goodness," said Mhera. Normally, she wouldn't have been so dramatic as it seemed rather cliche. However, imagining what one would do and actually finding oneself in a dangerous situation provided for completely different reactions.

"Turn the lights on!" gasped rrrrr, "Turn-" His voice was truncated.

"Rrrrr!" Sand gasped.

The darkness was pervasive, and nothing could be seen. The sounds were abrupt and fearful, full of scuffling, bumping, and crying and brimming with fear. It was the typical scare movie scene. Except it was real.

"He's dead!" yelled Soren.

Suddenly, a gunshot broke through the sounds.

Sand managed to get to the switch. Dark turned to light, and everyone turned to see Jet, rather than rrrrr, lying on the floor.

Rrrrr was sitting up and rubbing his head, moaning. It appeared that he had been hit and dazed.

"No, how could it!" said Plugg, "This means...the Mafia member is among us. Unless something unexpected occurred."

"Jet," whispered Sand, crawling up to his friend.

To everyone's surprise, Jet lifted his head and sat up. His shirt had a giant hole in it, but underneath, the others could see that he was wearing something.

"I don't know what this is, but the nurse told me to put it on. Looks like it came to use." He got to his feet, and so did everyone else.

The gun and a staff were in the center of the circle, not close to anyone in particular. Jet grabbed them both before anyone else could. A few flinched.

"You guys," said Jet, "Relax! Would I shoot myself?"

"I don't know," said Plugg. "We can't trust anyone anymore."

Hmmmm. I don't think it's Plugg because why would the game continue when the Mafia has left so he's ruled out. I'll wager that I was the target since I exposed Banya. All things considered, my best bet is that she blabbed to her compatriot before I blew her up with a rocket launcher. So I'm the detective, I feel like this is a surprise to no one. Sand is definitely innocent. So either Soren, Gonff or Mhera is the killer.

My guess would be rrrrr. He did daze himself, plus that would give him a chance to sneak and shoot Jett. I know that he joined late, but maybe there was one mafia, then Sky thought it would be nice and unexpected to let him be one.
