If I recall correctly, I said I was going to start a mafia and then never did so I'm glad there is one

At first, things were fine. Everyone lived in his own room of the dormitory building. Everyone had his own role to play to keep the small, simple society of ten people running efficiently. Everyone got along.

But as time passed, hardship fell on the small community. The cooks had less raw materials to, well, cook with. The nurse was running out of supplies. The police officer was running low on donuts.

People began to quarrel, and conflict broke out. Though everyone agreed to resolve it peacefully and leave such bitter fights in the past, two members thought otherwise. Unknown to the others, they formed their own little Mafia.

The person who became the first victim thought it was going to be another normal day. Then, something happened to her.

She was appointed to the position of moderator of the community.

Elated, she ran to tell her friends the news. However, as she neared the building where everybody lived, two figures followed her. They ran up to her.

The girl gasped as she suddenly felt a poke in her arm. Whipping around, she became face-to face with a masked figure with a needle in its hand. Another hidden figure laughed behind her.

"Our first victim has fallen!" the Mafia member announced before the two of them escaped.

It suddenly occurred to the girl that she had been injected with something strange. The weird needle was filled with a substance that made her go insane in minutes. Yelling something about dragons and Dr. Rainy, she died of madness.

Everyone came back to find Rain murdered on the path, the cursed liquid oozing out of a tiny pinprick in her arm. Sadly, the nurse had not saved her because he/she had been trying to help somebody else. And the police officer did not find the Mafia because for some reason he/she was accusing the victim herself of murder.

"We must do something," said Banya, the oldest and the leader of the group. She turned to her fellow citizens. "Who do we vote to kick out of our community? Who is responsible for the death of Rainshadow?"


OOC: If you didn't receive a PM, then you're a normal citizen. Please post who you would like to kick out of the game. In other words, who do you think is a Mafia member? There are two, but you can guess only one at a time.

Even if you are a Mafia, police officer, or nurse...you can accuse someone. Be smart about it! And don't reveal who you are

A loyal citizen killed? How terrible! I recommend that the nurse and police officer don't reveal who they are as in some books I've read the mafia have gone after them instantly. Now the first day is always the most difficult, especially if you are the first person to comment so for now I shall abstain from voting until I've heard some arguments

OOC: As some may guess, "books" means other games of Mafia

They won't reveal who they are. That's how I intend to do it.

Also, this is how my friends and I played it. I'm not trying to be mean at all. In my opinion, it's just a game, and I just want us to have fun

Hmmm in books I've read it has been up to the discretion of the player (of this game of life) whether or not they want to reveal their roles

However, what if:

The police officer is right? And he (using he for ease of reference) reveals who he is? Then, everyone will always know who the Mafia is.

And this:

I think I'm going to try it this way first, and if it doesn't work, or your way works better, we can change it. This is a new game, and I expect some experimentation

*winces upon seeing her name in Sky's post* *sighs in relief after apprehensively reading post*  This game gives me so much anxiety.  I thought it would be better online than in person, but it's not.  My stomach can't handle the suspense.

"Townspeople of Chapelvale!" Banya, the eldest, cried aloud, because the others were looking to her in the time of crisis.  When one is looked to as a leader, she thought, one must act as a leader.  Though she tried to remain calm, she was shaken by the loss of her confidante.  She gathered the others around her.
"We've lost Rain, and so shortly after she was made a moderator to quell unrest in our town!  Our new sheriff was appointed to protect our citizens and investigate issues of contention, yet despite his spotless record, one of our own is murdered!  He claims the evidence shows that there were two perpetrators.  Who within our community would do such a thing, and for what purpose?  Power, prestige, jealousy?  Why Rain?!  She has done nothing to deserve this fate!  She was good and fair moderator, loved and looked up to by others.  She sought to put an end to discord in our once close community, and she was a great deal responsible for the peace we have enjoyed these past few weeks since hardship fell upon our community!  I have my suspicions, but the perpetrators of this heinous crime have yet to be brought to light. Know only that when they are, they will be punished in such a way as befits their crime."

EDIT:  Banya looked around the small, sorrowful bunch.
"Friends," she said softly, "some of you have taken upon yourselves positions of leadership in our community.  I would think it best that, when in public, you hide your identities.  I fear that, having gone this far, the two perpetrators would not hesitate to target our sheriff if they feel his investigation points us toward them, and that they might attack our only doctor to prevent his giving aid to those who need it.  For the safety of yourselves and the community, continue doing your work, but do it discreetly for the remainder of this investigation.  The value of your work is incalculable."
