Ho arr, mateys, swimming is fun!

I had shrimp 'n' hotroot soup today.

Kitsune

I would get more troops. A badger could take on one hundred easily.

Luftwaffles

Get more supporters, just then I'd deliver the pain.

Ah don't worry, I too thought that it was automatic or something :P

But I'm glad to see that you changed the options for this one, now it's far more interesting :)

I would attack. Doing so would lose a lot of troops, but defeating the Badger Lord is more important (from a hoard leader's perspective).

By the time you've recruited more vermin to your horde the badger might not be alone any more, or could have vanished, so I don't know if I'd take that risk! Perhaps I'd taunt from a safe distance and see how the badger would react, then maybe back away for a bit and recruit more, if the reaction meant the badger was going to pursue or stay around... it's a tricky - but interesting - one to think in such a mindset I basically never do. :P

I'd take a small squad of my best archers and try to kill the badger from long distance with a volley of poisoned arrows, and if that doesn't work, I would just run away and try to think up some other scheme. I mean, sure, I could probably kill a badger in open battle through sheer force of numbers, but I'd take heavy casualties. And then the Badger Lord's own army (which they presumably have somewhere, being a Badger Lord, and all) would be out for revenge on my now-weakened horde. That's hardly ideal.

But whatever the case, I simply would not fight a Badger Lord directly. For me, it would be tricks, traps, deception, or retreat; anything else would be a needless waste of my resources.

I'd chalenge him to a fight and pull a Ferahgo.

Just attacking and killing him on the spot is shortsighted and doesn't result in any gain. I would figure out a way to knock him unconscious. Once that's done, I'd bind him up, and then march right out into the open and send a messenger to the Long Patrol that they'd better pay up with a lot of treasure if they ever want to see their precious badger again. Let it be known that this deal only counts if they agree that neither the badger nor any of their soldiers will launch an attack on us, before or during this deal, or for up to two weeks afterwards. If they try to attack, which is very probable considering how hares are, then kill the badger immediately and make a fighting retreat. If they fulfill the terms, then unbind the badger, once he has been made aware of the agreement his subordinates made on his behalf, and go our separate ways. Then go do whatever it is that hordes do with the treasure they loot.

It depends on my current goal.  If it were to take over Salamandastron, I would attack.  If it were to attain treasure (why would I, anyways - I've never seen a mention of currency/bartering in the books?) I would do what James posted.

Badger Lords are notoriously powerful but I think one alone would be easy enough especially with Five hundred at my back. I would most likely take a good hundred with me to battle the badger directly, I would arm my warriors with bows and throwing spears and keep spreading out pounding it with fire then rush In with spears to hit and run until it bleeds out. The other four hundred I would have at the ready to protect our retreat if it turns out that badger isn't alone and has an army hidden away somewhere.

Typically I wouldn't pick a fight with a badger lord ;)

I feel I could take a badger down with just a score of warriors actually, its simple really. Just give it a few arrow and spear wounds and let it bleed out. Its how wolves hunt.
