I'd say the unknown could hurt you. Because we are on the Redwall Forum in one of the random boards, I will use an extreme example.
There's a man standing right behind you. You don't know who the man is or why he is behind you. That is the unknown. Now, you find out afterwards that he is in fact a professional assassin who has been hunting you down at the orders of the last person you had an argument with. As you lay dying, you realize that that which was unknown has harmed you.
