I know a LOT of you have probably heard this, but this has always puzzled me. When I read something like non-confusing answer, I just had to post this. (Also, I'm putting this in Cavern Hole because I consider a serious topic, and neither spam or pointless.)

Which came first - The chicken or the egg?

Interesting answer

There is no beginning to a circle. Sage probably knows what book this is from. ;)

Well? What;s your answer?

Luftwaffles

Probably the chicken, as there wouldn't be an egg without it.

Egg. From an evolutionary standpoint, we know that birds are descended from the feathered dinosaurs (if you disagree, please let's not turn this thread into a religious debate) so the breeding would eventually have to lead to the first chicken egg. That is my opinion.

"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

From a creationist standpoint, the chicken, since the egg would have to come from somewhere. :P Not starting an argument, just putting it out there.

. . . . My point exactly. You see why this puzzled me?

Never thought of that. :) That's an interesting point to consider.

Skyblade

While it is a bit interesting, I don't think it really matters that much...

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

Domesticated chickens are descended from wild junglefowl, so I suppose you could say the first "chicken" appeared when someone got the idea to capture one of the wild birds and raise it. The first "true" domesticated chicken would have come from an egg.

The Mask

I am a squirrel, an otter, a mouse, a fox, a stoat, a ferret, a weasel, a wildcat, a hare, a hedgehog, a badger; I am the master of disguises, The Mask.
