-Admiral Mosulier is not a man to be cowed easily. His own vessels may have less guns, but the French cannons had a longer range. With the smaller frigates breaking apart into three formations of two they twisted to fire a broadside into the prows of the oncoming 72s. Then using their superior speed and maneuverability they sailed quickly out of range to reload their cannons and come in for another pass. This time the Frenchmen laughed watching the 72s struggle to keep up with the elusive war frigates.-

-With the Swedish effectively distracted, harbors along the French-Mediterranean coast opened and ships poured out sailing away at top speed. Most were small merchant vessels loaded with goods and headed towards the Ottoman Empire and Papal States. But three are little schooners sailing bravely towards the ensuing naval battle.-

Admiral Bilu standing aboard his flagship The Invincible, a huge four decked Ship of the Line carrying 100 48 pounders, sees his ships are not able to fire upon the frigates and sees schooners. "Mr. Speers load the forward battery those frigates are well within range! Mr. Jarber signal the frigates Superb, Destroyer, and Vengeance to take care of those schooners, and signal the sloop'o'war Whip to tell Commodore Yilu to ready the outshore squadron, they may have gotten past the inshore but they won't pass the outshore!"

The fleet heading toward Sicily sights ground and readies the attacking force of 10,000 troops. Such a force is overkill on a place like the island they are about to attack, but better safe than sorry.

Admiral Penningworth of the Channel Fleet stood at the helm of his second-rate ship-of-the-line, the ninety gun Neptune. He scanned the horizon with his spyglass, sweeping the English Channel for signs of enemy activity. Suddenly, through the mist broke first one French ship... then another, and another! Jubilant, he called out to the navigator, "Inform all squadrons to set headings at 192 degrees, and stand by for engagement!" The communications officer raised the flags and set the lamps- soon, calls echoed through the entire fleet:  "Headings at 192 degrees!" "Gunnery crew standing by!" "Enemy ships at 223 degrees, sir." "Reefing sails to combat set, sir!"

The captain of the third-rate ship Prince Edward was the first to engage. ""Hard to port!" called the navigator. The ship brought its guns to bear on a fleeing french brig. The gunnery officer called out, "Ready... fire!"

The thunder of cannons ripped through the night.

Colonial militia on mainland America retaliate, killing all French traders and burning nearby Indian settlements.

The British Caribbean Fleet continues its blockade of the French West Indies, unhampered by lumbering, lightly armed merchant ships.

The British War Fleet sails into the Bay of Biscay, capturing French and Spanish shipping in the area, blasting harbor fortifications, shutting off trade, and throwing the gauntlet for naval dominance.

The new French Admiral Alain stood on the forecastle of his vessel watching as the British cannons tear apart a small unarmed brig. His own ship was a fifty cannoned frigate and no match for the larger British ship. He snapped off a few quick orders to his captain glaring at the English ship in frustration. "My compliments to Captain Remi the Blue Lady is lost, signal all merchant vessels to return to port and assemble the fleet into battle formation. Signal the schooners to advance and prepare to abandon ship."

"Admiral! Abandon ship?"

"We cannot defeat the English navy today, but we will let the merchants escape. Songs will be sung of this day. Bring out all powder and set full sail to 132 degrees. Full frontal for the Valiant." Remi raced along the forecastle yelling orders to the crewmen. A few followed the order to abandon ship while many disobeyed, unwilling to leave their commander alone. -Five vessels set a course towards the English at full speed.-

-In the colonies a large Indian war party marches deep into Virginia. They burn towns and kill men, women, and children. Further North in Canada the French army marches south. They number nearly twenty thousand muskets and nearly two thousand horsemen. Their goal is to wipe out all the farms and small communities that supply England with much needed resources.-

-In France along the Northern border Prince Sablepaw is joined by the Swiss soldiers. He prapres to face the Prussian army leaving willing peasant scouts along the border to warn the army when the enemy first appears.-

-In Southwest France Lord Russell has assembled another French army number slightly more then Ten Thousand men. he marches towards the Western coast with unknown intent.-

~Far North in the Netherlands several military movements are made but they seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things.~

The Swedish fleet under the command of Admiral Dilu arrives at the Island the Spanish and French fleets are attacking. "Signal the British Commander 'We have Arrived.'"

OOC: The offshore ships can't be shooting at the merchants because the merchants are going east not west.

BIC:

-Admiral Mousiler buys time for the two French frigates to repair while distracting the Sweden vessels. The French gunners fire chain shot bringing down one of the 72s main masts. Another fires at the 72s rudder leaving the ship dead in the water. One of the schooners manages to reach the Swedish vessel and fires a small salvo into the ship's port. The 72's guns shoot straight over the schooners deck leaving the vessel unharmed. From the South French warships have just returned from Africa. These vessels are the largest in the French navy and carry seventy guns each. The three vessels join the fight firing a massive broadside into Bilu's vessel. The ships timely arrival swinging the course of the battle to favor to the French.-
