I hated Martin the Warrior for many a reason (I'm not going to bother re-stating them all over again).

We sure have a LOT of Loamhedge haters!  Never was a big fan of that one either, it lacked a lot of Jaques's ingenuity.

I love Loamhedge! I think that it's a masterpeice! In my opinion, it probubly had the best of Jaques's ingenuity.

How? The characters (accepting Bragoon, Sarobando, and The Badger dude [and Flinky! How could I have forgotten Flinky?!?!])) were terrible, the plotline was rather dull, I really disliked how the story turned out, things seemed too easy.... It just wasn't that interesting to read. I got so hyped up about a book telling about Loamhedge, shedding some light. Instead, I got a grade-c book that just wasn't a fit.

I think just the oppasite of Loamhedge. Everything that you said about Loamhedge, I think Vice-Versa about. But thats probubly just because were so different from each other .

So, which one is it? Mine is definitely Taggerung. You can post which one you don't like, and why you don't like it.
I don't like Taggerung because there isn't a proper main villain, there are no good battles, and it is pretty sad. And I'm sorry to say that Deyna is one of my least favourite characters.

I'm sorry but i can't agree with you I LOVETaggerung because it's sooo different and that theres no main bad guy yeah theres not that many battles but i do i REALLYdo love Denya

I must admit it proved difficult picking the worse.  Several contenders for that dubious honor.  So I'm going to list my choice and the runner-ups.



1 --- TRISS

By far the worse book in the series.  If BJ submitted this one first, he would be a hack writer in search of a publisher. 

First mistake, having a throwaway character.  In the opening segment, we have three companions.  One of them, the hedgehog, does nothing.  He gets hit in the head by a rock and that is the extent of his actions.  Any editor worthy of the title would have purged him before publication. 

Second, two unrelated stories that never come together.  In truth, the story about the three-headed snake at Brockhall proved more interesting than the main story.  Now BJ has had two or more stories running in his books, but they eventually came together in a single finish. 

Third, Triss is the worse kind of character any writer can create.  She is the classical Mary-Sue.  She goes from escape artist to master sailor to evader, and ends the story as a master sword fighter.  Remember, she is a slave, who is suppose to have none of these talents.  Basic tenant of the Mary-Sue is a character who is never wrong and can do anything, regardless of the skills needed.

Fourth, the book comes to a conclusion in three pages.  As I read, I wondered if this would be the first two-parted book.  Methinks BJ hit either his word or page count and just ended the story in as few words as possible.  Took all the thrill out of the earlier events.



2 --- TAGGERRUNG

My objection to this book is simply BJ wimped out at the end.  He gave us a book that explored the issue of nurture versus nature.  Sounded good.  Than he comes out and tells the readers everything was due to his tattoos.  What a cop-out.  Only the book's glimpse into vermin life kept this from being the worse book in the series.


3 --- LOAMHEDGE


The whole quest turns moot when we find out the cripple isn't crippled.  It is all in her mind.  To me, this book is an insult to anyone with a true handicap or who has suffered a crippling injury.  It sounds like BJ thinks such things are just a figment of the person's mind.

Why is it that hardly anyone like Loamhedge!? That was a great book!
