Why is it that hardly anyone like Loamhedge!? That was a great book!

Perhaps the ending did not satisfy.  We are lead into believing the quest would find a cure.  The adventure proved interesting and held a reader's interest, but the finish fizzled.  However, the biggest drawback was the message within the story, which insulted anyone with a physical handicap.  The story infers anyone crippled is faking it, it is nothing but a mental process.  "If you really wanted to walk, you can."  Sorry, reality is a lot crueler.  There are people restricted to wheelchairs due to illness, and it is not faked.
Retirement:  What I earned from a lifetime of work.

I never thought of it that way :-\ But I still think that it's one of BJ's best books, and its not just because I'm not a handycap...

Life is too short to rush through it.

Mine is Lord Brocktree.
I loved Lord Brocktree! Its one of the best books in the Redwall series!

Life is too short to rush through it.

I've seen a lot of reasons why people don't like Loamhedge and the main reason was because Martha suddenly learned to walk after a lifetime of being crippled and to some, it was insulting. I don't think that was how Brian Jacques intended it though. Of course, I tend to take a different view of things than most.
I have the mass majority of Redwall books and decided to peek in Loamhedge. It says, and I quote, "A sad occurrence, made sadder by the fact that Martha had never learned to walk from that day forth. Her brother grew up as sprightly as any young hare, but despite the most tender care, the babe Martha was immobile from her knee joints to her footpaws. There were no signs of any apparent wound or injury, no scar ring or broken bones. No reason, in fact, why the little one should not learn to walk."
The last sentence is the main one I'm concentrating on. There was no real reason for Martha not to walk so I don't think Martha was truly crippled, but instead simply refused to walk. And in the end, when it came to staying in the chair or saving a friend's life, she chose the latter. I think Brian was intending it to be something along the lines of, "If you never try something, how do you know you can't do it?"
But of course, I could have missed a crucial detail somewhere in the book because it's been a while since I've had the time to fully read it and I can be rather oblivious.  :D

And although I love all the Redwall books, my least favorite would probably be Outcast of Redwall. I've only read it once and never really wanted to read it again. I guess I was hoping for a more honorable ending for Veil than just dying for someone and still being called evil.

I think i spelled that wrong
Never trust a smiling pirate.  :D

I can do that because I'm awesome.

"It really gets up my nose when publishers call my book another Lord of the Rings. It's my bloody book! I wrote it. And another thing, I didn't have to plunder Norse and European mythology to do it!" - Brian Jacques.

Easy question to answer ... the worst book is Rogue Crew, partly because I keep spelling it Rouge and partly because it the last book that'll likely ever be written.  :(

I disliked the Rogue Crew, mainly because it was wrote posthumously, but also because of the weak plot and Razzid Wearat.

1. What is a "Wearat"?

2. How could anyone, even a wearat, survive that fire and still have that much strength.

The characters besides Razzid were okay, except for the Wiltuds.

1. Since there were so many Wiltud hedgehogs in the Rogue Crew, how come there is no other Wiltuds in the books that preceded it?

2. Twoggs and Drogbuk ruined my like for hedgehogs, due to their bad manners and willing to do anything for food.

Wearat - a rat wearing clothes?
'Wearat - a rat who swears a lot, but can't say "S"s?  ;)

It's possibly meant to be Wererat ... like a werewolf, only smaller.  :)

No, I think it's supposed to be a half rat half weasel which doesn't exist
