"Splash" is the only move that Magikarp can learn. It does literally nothing. No damage, no stat boosts. Nothing. And that thing evolves into a sea serpent which was one of the most powerful of the original 151 Pokémon.

In pokemon go, it takea 400 magikarp candies to evolve a magikarp into gyrados. in comparison, the other single evolution pokemon take 50 candies.
Each magikarp you catch gets you an average of 3 magikarp candies. Transferring it gets you one more. so if each magikarp gets you 4 candies, it takes 100 magikarp to get a gyrados.

On locking topics:

When on a forum, sometimes you just want a topic locked, so that it cannot be posted in. Keep in mind you could delete the topic (if you are able to do so), but that removes all previous posts. If you want the topic locked, there are 3 sure-fire ways to speed up the process.

1. Ask a moderator or administrator to lock it for you. Unfortunately, some moderators/administrators are not very fun (RPoL), or not very helpful (4chan). In this case, move on to 2.

2. The easiest way to lock a topic is to have it locked due to disrespect. Breaking rules, insulting other members, or posting controversial content will have this happen, but it carries severe risk of being banned from the forum, or having the topic deleted entirely. In which case, rule 3. is the best rule for achieving this.

3. POST! Ignore any "Do not post in a row" rules and just post for you life. The more posts you have in a topic, the bigger it gets. Many forums will lock topics that get too large, to prevent them from slowing down the forum itself. Therefore, if you want a topic locked, spam it with countless posts that are just relevant enough to the topic matter to allow you to get away with it!
