I'm doing good.  (Except VidAngel's been shut down...nooooo... :/)  It's nice to have you back temporarily.
I never expected anything else. The second I saw it's service model, I knew it would get sued out of existence. Still, it was nice while it lasted. My parents bought stock. We'll see how it does at the Supreme Court (Hopefully, a newly conservative Supreme Court).

And while we're speaking of VidAngel, allow me to say: Matt Meese is the best frontman. Ever.
Oh, man, I hope so.  My mom is so particular about what we watch.  I'll probably never be able to see any Marvel movies in their entirety again unless VidAngel is allowed to put their movies back or I turn eighteen.  YouTube clips just ain't the same.

Oh, so he's the angel/devil guy.  Their ads are crazy weird. XD

What is VidAngel btw ?

Eulaliaaa!

VidAngel lets people rent movies for just one dollar, the only catch is that you have to censor something. Which, when you think about it, would you rather spend five to ten dollars for an uninterrupted movie or just one dollar and have a bleeped out f-word? A lot of people are upset about the current situation, including me and my family.
Just pretend there is something interesting and unique written here... I have nothing to say.

Studio C FTW!

...Tell me you've seen Studio C.

@Eulaliaaa!: The issue is less that of cost and more that we ought to have a right to watch content without garbage- which Disney is saying we may not, rather we must watch movies with whatever they want to add. I love space movies, but no way am I watching The Martian with a curse word in every sentence.

Well then you're missing half of the point of The Martian, since it's meant to be a crude comedy. Fact is, VidAngel don't have permission to do what they do, and that means they're breaking the law but they have the gall to pretend they aren't.
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

I don't mind the comedy, but I do mind the crude. Besides, if what I've heard is correct, it has plenty of substance to it besides swearing.

Furthermore, I am a law abiding citizen. I would never use a service that breaks the law. I do not believe VidAngel is breaking the law. Is it a loophole? Absolutely. Is it somewhat shady? Definitely. But when there is no other option, and the goal is good, I'll take shady over nothing.

However, once the verdict is delivered, I fully expect the company to follow the law, and I will respect that ruling- whether it is my personal opinion that it is a good law or not. In my mind, the best thing would be for the judge to have VidAngel buy streaming rights. The movies would be much more expensive, but still available. That would satisfy most people, I think- although not the studios and the Directors Guild, I grant.

On the subject of that particular film, I'll confess (somewhat regretfully) that I have seen it, fairly recently. Describing it as a "crude comedy", suggesting equivalency to that C-film the North Koreans attempted to keep from being released, isn't really accurate. It's a mostly solid space film, with a few scenes where a certain piece of profanity was sprinkled (I think quite unnecessarily) in there. In my opinion, the claim that the eight or nine times that word was said are somehow vital to the film or that that comprises a large part of its appeal is simply wrong. It could be enjoyable to a lot more people with a small amount of bowdlerizing.

On VidAngel... I haven't used them and I admit something of a distaste for the company's marketing tactics, although I don't mind the concept of their service. If they're streaming out other people's material which they haven't acquired licenses for, then that is quite illegal and I don't see that they have much recourse. Certainly there can't be any legal objection to the right of an individual to censor material that they've purchased, though. Perhaps there is a niche for someone to release a Windows/OS X media player that identifies DVDs and censors them based on the company's presets.

The problem is the companies are prohibited from doing so by their contracts with the Director's Guild.

Ahh I see.

Going a bit off topic but the biggest downside for me for US Netflix is that it doesn't have movies which just came out. Did VidAngel have those ?

Eulaliaaa!

Not the day they come out, but much much sooner that Netflix. Maybe several weeks?

That is better/faster. And what's their selection like compared to Netflix? Do they have more, less or about the same amount of movies ?

Wylder Treejumper

Had. Their service is currently under injunction.
