LT Sandpaw

That actually makes a lot of sense, which sucks because its going to get me killed. I'd say full well look into it, as I'm sure everyone will. I want to win this game just as much as everyone else, so I would strongly encourage using every resource available, including the thing that's going to get me killed. :P

My only defense is that it was coincidental on Jets' part, or put in to throw people off, though I doubt it.

  Yay!  :D

  Okay, so first:

DISCLAIMER:  I AM NOT VERY GOOD AT MAFIA AND THUS THIS THEORY COULD BE TOTALLY  OFF IN EVERY WAY.

Now that that's out of the way, I noticed that several people have been trying to theorize who the two mafia are by their actions (which is a totally valid way to do it, but I really suck at picking up hints, so I'm just ignoring that way), but the only investigating they've done of the names of the mafia, "Kuki" and "Suna", are Googling them and finding pictures.  I decided to go a bit deeper than that.  And by deeper, I mean I went onto Google Translate because I noticed how Japanese the names sounded and went, "Y'know, maybe Jet did something like what I do with names and translated a word that has to do with the mafia into a different language, then used that as their names."  This is what I came up with:

Kuki:  Japanese for "stem" or "stalk", as in a plant stem/stalk.

Suna:  Japanese for "sand".  Also, Romanian for "call".  But I think "sand" makes a bit more sense.

What does this mean?  Well, it could mean nothing (which would also mean that I overthink things too much), but it could also mean that Jet took parts of the names of the mafia and translated them into Japanese to make a sort of code name for them.  The most obvious of the two is that Suna would be Sandpaw, as he literally has the word "sand" in his name.  As for Kuki, that one's a bit tougher.  I mean, "stem" isn't a word that obviously applies to anyone in particular (at least, not as obviously as Suna), but if I had to guess, I'd probably choose Cornflower, as her name is a plant (which, if you didn't know, usually has a stem).  My other guess would be Rocktree, as "tree" is also a plant, but it makes much less sense to apply the word "stem" to "tree".

So, my theory is that the mysterious "Kuki" is Cornflower MM, and that "Suna" is LT Sandpaw.

Am I right?  Probably not.  Will I be utterly slaughtered by Corn and Sand for pointing fingers at them in this post?  Probably.  But who cares?  Not me.  Because I overthink too much and probably should be disregarded, as it feels like the names were far too obvious to be right.  I mean, for all I know, Jet could've thought that far ahead and tried to throw us all off the track by using words that could be attributed to non-mafia players.  Or, you know, there's the off chance that I'm right and I'm just really bashing Jet by calling his sneaky naming system "obvious" and "really easy to interpret".  :P

No, I won't slaughter you. Not right now. I'm still puzzling over your connection between 'stem' and 'Cornflower'

Well done for going to Google Translate. I never thought of that.  :P And your theory is a good one Rain. One that should be taken into account.

Skyblade

*Pokes thread* Well, Sage isn't here to GM (I miss him; I hope he returns soon). I guess we can wait for his opinion and how to proceed.

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

Hickory

This was the first thread I checked. Sorry for not being on, I didn't check the forum until today. :P

I'll try and get this back up, just hold out.

No, don't worry about it. And thank you Sage; feel free to take your time ;D

Ok. I started the story before the forums went down so it should be done by tomorrow. Thanks for your patience, everyone.

ROUND 2 (NIGHT) HAS BEGUN.

Nobody saw the next attack coming until it happened.

It was a long time before people got over the previous death. Mourning was a chief priority - when the guards weren't keeping an eye on them. So when they found the second body, no one felt safe.

The clock had just struck midnight when Gonff returned to his room. The bed was a large four-poster, just like everyone else's. The sheets were clean white linen and were always made when they returned to their rooms. The window was neatly covered by a pre-made set of board nailed together that fit seamlessly into the space, making it impossible for anybody to get out through the window from the inside, according to the master carpenter.

Everybody else was talking in the common area. Gonff had put in his thoughts and, tired after a long, dreary day of being cooped up inside the castle. Sky had finished a thought about Soren and Rachel; both of them were eyeing each other (and Sky). Sand sat on an armchair covered in red velvet, leaning forward, mouth open as if to say something. He had mentioned at the time of Gonff's departure that is was "suspicious" that he had left after giving his input, saying that he thought that Gonff wanted to avoid any backlash. Peri said that that was a very heavy statement to speak based on the actions of a single individual. By 12:30 they were all tired of the argument and agreed to talk about it tomorrow.

An hour later, the lights had all been put out except for one in the hallway with the rooms and the common area. Two figures slipped out of their rooms quietly. It was a very d?j? vu moment, and the figures almost smiled at each other. They went past the light, briefly casting two distinct shadows. One tall and one bulky. The tall one diverged from the other, heading for the common area. The room was a large pentagon, like the main keep of the castle. A carpet shaped to the walls was in the middle, and the red velvet chair earlier occupied by Sandpaw glowed in the soft lamplight. The shadow of the figure passed over it silently. The figure dashed to each corner, checked every one for any hidden listeners, the soft pads of its feet the only sound heard.

Satisfied of the emptiness, it headed back to where the seocnd figure stood at the door of a room. Gonff's room. The castle janitor kept all room locks and hinges well oiled - only insuring the demise of the castle's inhabitants. Gonff himself lay sleeping on the bed, unaware of the killers about to take his life. The door closed behind the second figure, and the click of the hatch coincided perfectly with the sound of metal being drawn. Gonff woulddream his last dream tonight.

ROUND 1 (NIGHT) HAS ENDED, WITH THE DETECTIVE GONFF DEAD.

@Sage: Thank you :) I'll keep track of the votes, so people can change them as many times as they want.

And are you kidding me? Well. This is upsetting. But TOWN! On the bright side, we still have a big numerical advantage. We need to be cautious and do our best to find the Mafia for Day 2. I believe in the Town, as long as we actually post ;D (But seriously, people not posting is one of my biggest Mafia pet peeves. So please participate).

I honestly am not confident in my Mafia skills (or anything else, really), but I have to try.

I'm working on a readlist, which is my thoughts on all the players. This might take a bit; it's a lot of work.

Oh, there are three real clues in the story, and no fake ones. May the odds be ever in your favor

You say no fake ones, but I tell you, stories lead people astray all the time :P Which is why I'm wary of them :P

Thanks for the info, anyway :)

I want the world of Tolkien,
